I don't know what to do anymore with this kid!!!!! For the last couple of days he hasn't had any purees, I am refusing to give it to him in an effort to get him to eat other foods. Last night we tried to give him some roast beef, mashed potatoes and cut of steamed carrots...he ate a piece of bread instead. Today he is with my grandmothers. He ate a waffle this morning then smashed the fresh blueberries across his tray. My grandma made pasta with a little bit of butter and parmesan cheese - he threw that on the floor and refused to even put any in his mouth. I feel awful that I'm not giving him the purees but I thought a few days without would make him at least try some food. Is anyone else going through this, or does anyone have any advice?? I'm seriously stressing over this and am convinced this is why my BP is high.
Re: Still not eat table food :/
This is soooo my son....he is a carb freak just like his mommy...and he will eat veggie and fruit puree but nothing else. I'm glad I'm not the only one.
Random but have you tried a steamed/baked sweet potato, cut into bite-size3 chunks?
I actually microwave the potato for a few minutes (doesn't take long...2 mins, maybe 3 depending how strong your oven, how big the sweet potato).
I add a little unsalted butter & sprinkle it with some cinnamon: it's one of the first finger foods my son really took to.
It's a carb and a very healthy one so worth a try?!

You're definitely not the only one. We have been trying the same thing that you have, with trying to cut out purees and trying more table foods. He will eat any bread/carb (but not pasta), cheese, blueberries, strawberries, banana, avocado. That's it...no veggies, no meat. He won't even put new things in his mouth. Occasionally, I can sneak something new onto a fork and he'll put it in his mouth, but will instantly spit it out. He'll eat sweet potato fries sometimes, and other times he refuses. I can get breakfast and lunch in him no problem, but have a heck of a time with dinner, so we usually resort to purees (stage 3 Earth's Best soups) in addition to some finger foods he'll pick at.
I've been doing a lot of freeze dried things. Freeze dried mango and peas are two favorites. He won't eat regular mango or peas, though. I found these things called "Snapeas" which are dried peapods that seem like chips (they're made as salad toppers, found them in the produce section). I have been able to get him to eat grilled cheese and cream cheese on toast, so I have snuck in some tiny bits of ham or turkey (nitrate free), but it's not much. Besides the EB soups, that's the only meat he gets. I try to do greek yogurt every day for protein. I made veggie muffins, which he really likes. It doesn't get a ton of veggies in him, but it's something.
When he's had a crappy food day, I will make him a smoothie for after-dinner, as a kind of 'dessert.' I put frozen fruit, frozen spinach, milk and greek yogurt. I may add a splash of heavy cream for extra fat (My LO is tiny, so needs the fat).
Anyway, I feel your pain! I go through periods where I'm really really stressed about it, and then other times I just give him what I know he will eat and try to relax. I know they can feel our anxiety, and if we're anxious when they're eating, they can sense something is wrong, which won't help matters. I'm just going to keep offering foods (even though we end up wasting SO much), and sneaking healthy things where I can, and hoping eventually he will improve.
Hmm, this is a good thought. My LO spits out chunky purees but most of those have been things like pasta, which he doesn't like all that much (weirdo). I might give pears a try, he does love pureed pears.
