Question about fluid intake and anatomy u/s

My anatomy u/s is in a little over an hour and technically the want a full bladder to better see the baby and want me to drink 24 oz of fluid and have it finished 30 minutes prior to the appointment.

I've been drinking lots today, except there is NO way I can hold it till after the u/s. I've peed like 6 times in the last 30 minutes alone. LOL. How important is that my bladder is "full"? This is torture.

it depends on your office. Mine wanted my bladder empty so Im really no help but maybe take a huge water with you for the waiting room and ask as you go in.

I think this is the meanest practice. I didn't have to do it (thank you, baby jesus) and I still had to pee before and after the scan... and then again after the visit with our midwife.

With DD I didn't have to drink anything and no restrictions on going to the bathroom. With this LO though, I had to drink 16 oz an hour before and not go to the bathroom. 24 oz seems like a huge amount!

I was told the same thing before my next u/s, full bladder, drink 24 oz an hr before the appt. I did that at the last u/s too, but they said it wasn't even close to being full enough

So next time I'm not even going to attempt it, just drink my usual intake.

I had to have a semi full bladder... I was so distracted during the scan looking at LO that I didn't realize I had to pee till she told me I could get up and go... and of course now because of talking about it, I realize I need to go now too.

You think 24 oz is a lot? My a/s is next Thursday and I have to drink 32 oz, 1 hour before my appointment and I cannot pee. I am going to be in tears.

I had to drink 32 ounce for mine and when i got on the table for my ultrasound I told her I was about to pee myself, I was miserable! She told me that the full bladder was ONLY to see the cervix then I could empty it for the rest of the ultrasound. So it took her about 30 seconds to get a shot of my cervix then I got to go pee. Half way through the ultrasound she as like "I see your bladder is full again, you did really good job on your homework, woman rarely ever listen to it when we asked them to drink the water before coming." So if it does happen to be empty I think they'll understand but since your peeing so often, it's probably filling up pretty quick so youll probably have some urine left in there even if you pee!

With DS I had to do the 32oz and hour before Then they were behind and I had to wait 30min to get in. I was in SO much pain. With this office there were zero requirements. He was able to see my cervix fine and even pointed it out to me. it just depends on the practice I guess. I have purposely not drank enough before during other u/s and they either do them or switch to t/v. But with you being aas far as you are I can't see them doing t/v.

well I survived. I had to pee sooo bad and they were running behind of course today of all days! she commented, "Oh my gosh, your bladder is the fullest I've seen lately" - no shiit lady! She looked at the cervix and then let me use the restroom. Thank god! Much better after that.
