The time has come to start looking for a new car seat. Avery isn't quite ready to upgrade yet - but she will be soon enough. Being the planner that I am - I have already started researching seats and I have narrowed it down to the Britax Marathon and the Recaro Como. Do you have experiences with either of these seats? What do you like/dislike about it?
I like that the Recaro has side impact protection and it also seems more comfortable for the little one. Not to mention Recaro makes race car seats - so I figure it has got to be safe. Britax has a good name, too.....decisions...
I have a VW Passat - so I'm wondering how either of these will do in it. I keep DD's infant seat in the middle now, but not sure if I can do this with the Convertible seat. They seam sooooo huge. Also - once they are installed, is it pretty easy to take out and install in another vehicle? Sometimes we put DD's seat in the truck when we go to Houston - so not sure if it will be as easy as it is now.
TIA!
Re: Recaro Como vs. Britax Marathon
we have a convertible now, not one of your brands, but I will say that if you have latch it's fairly easy to move from car to car. Also they seem huge, so try going by a store like babyearth and trying it in your car.
We have the Recaro Como. ?Been using it since Clara was born, actually. ?(I'm not a infant carrier fan). ?Anyway, love the seat--it's very comfy (or so it seems), and it IS huge, but it fits in both my small Saturn and my husband's small Audi. ?Our reason for buying it was the safety, side impact, and the whole race-car seat manufacturing thing (all dh on that one).
?Good luck with your decision!?
We have the Recaro Signo, as does Taytee. The difference between the Signo and the Como is only the LATCH bar and the infinitely adjustable headrest. I tried the Como in my car first (because I didn't realize I grabbed the wrong one at BabyEarth, lol) and the sizes, ease of use, etc were about the same.
It actually takes up less space in my car than the infant seat did, because the recline is different. It's taller though, so it can be hard to see over to check on her in the mirror. The Como was pretty easy to get in (not as easy as the Signo though), but they get so secure it's a bit of a PITA to get them back out. Lemme tell you, they are not going anywhere in a crash!
Also, DD had that growth spurt and I bought the Signo when she was 7 mos, but then she didn't actually outgrow the infant seat until sometime in the last 2 weeks. She officially fit in the infant seat for a full year.
