My 13 week ultrasound the tech said she thought it was a girl but at my 18 week ultrasound yesterday the doctor herself confirmed that it is very clearly a boy. Luckily I didn't really trust the first ultrasound, so I hadn't bought anything.
I am glad you didn't buy anything yet! I am surprised any tech would even give their thoughts that early on. Every doc, nurse, and tech in my area was so adamant that until 18 weeks there is not a lot of certainty. We found out clearly we are having a boy at 16 weeks with an elective scan. Anyways......... Welcome to Team Blue!!!
I've never understood why U/S techs feel the need to make guesses. As another PP said, the genitalia aren't even formed yet. Grrr.
2/12: 100 mg Clomid + Bravelle last minute+ back to back IUI. BFN 3/12 150mg Clomid + B2B IUI =BFP!! TWINS! Vanishing twin at week 6 Tater-tot born January 3rd 2013

I went to the ER at 13 weeks and the tech said she thought it was a boy because she thought she saw something in between the legs. I didn't trust it at all. I had two appts after that and had a specialist and my doctor both confirm girl. I hate that the techs will even take a guess if they are not 100% sure!

Which is exactly why I wouldn't trust any guess that early...genitalia looks almost identical that early on. It's a good thing you didn't trust your tech's guess!
yep, they told us boy at our 12 week scan (the doctor offered - we didn't even ask!), but she was all girl at my A/S last week. Next time (if there is a next time), I would tell the doctor not to even guess that early.
The problem is that every 13 week old fetus has something between their legs, not just boys.
It's the "angle of the dangle" that determines sex that early.
