TTC After a Loss

Another charting Question.....

Through your recommendations, I've been familiarizing myself with fertilityfriend.com. I think I'm gonna try the whole charting thing. It's seems to be the cheapest & most accurate way to detect my fertile window. So here's my question (I know I've been slightly confused on this matter)....if I do start the charting & I see after a couple mths, say I'm hypothetically ovulating each month on day 13,.....do I just assume that's when I always ovulate or does it vary from month to month? I never thought to ask my OB if ovulation changes each month or is pretty constant?  Sorry for all the questions! I just wanna make sure if I'm gonna do this, that I do it right & I know all you guys are experts :) Thanks in advance!

It can change month to month. I've been charting my phantom cycles and ovulation has happened anywhere from CD 15 to 20. There are also other things that can make O later.

Yes! It's good to have an idea of when you O but charting is the only way to confirm it. If you can expect that you'll O on a certain day then I say plan for BD before then, but don't be surprised if it doesn't always happen then.

  • It depends on the person.  Before my m/c I always O'd on CD15 and had 29 day cycles.  After my O date was anywhere between CD18-50.  I suggest using OPKs also to detect your ovulation.

Now, if I went 6m+ and my cycle was the same EVERY cycle, then I might think it is safe to assume when my fertile window was.  But if I was actively TTC or actively TTA, I would want to be sure.

Your O day may change but your signs of fertility will be pretty consistent, or at least they are for me. For example, I almost always have no CM until 5 or so days before I O. The details are kind of gross and TMI, but I have a consistent pattern that I've noticed over years of charting. I don't track cervical position but that might give you another way to predict too. Once you have been charting for a while you might notice a pattern that lets you know when your O is probably coming. You can't know 100% until it actually happens, but you can know it's likely to happen.
