December 2012 Moms

AW: BF isn't being fair!

So I found this cute amazing fabric I want to buy to make a blanket for my LO. I mean CUTE!

He just told me I can buy it if I sell twice as much stuff as the space the material will take up.

What this means is... I need to sell 2 blankets or the equivilent of other products... like 10 hot and cold packs or 20 cat toys.

It's just not fair!

I want the fabric now! LOL

I could make her a blanket out of the 50 or so fabrics I have now, but this one would be special!

Maybe I should go crash a farmers market this weekend...lol

Does he normally tell you what you're allowed to buy or not?  That wouldn't fly at my house.

    Buy it anyway.  :)

No he doesn't, and I doubt he is overly serious about it... I think it was more of a ... we don't have  space for all the stuff now, don't add too much more or there won't even be a spot for the baby... kind of deal. he knows I will get it no matter what, but he would like to see a bunch of the other stuff vanish!

DH is the same way, every once in a while he'll give me pretty much the same ultimatum.  It's usually when there's (1) a build up of stuff & he's getting frustrated (esp if it's similar), and/or (2) he feels like I've been spending a lot lately and he'd like me to slow down the spending pace, and/or (3) I haven't been using what I have been buying.  My guess is these are true for your guy, especially since we all know there will be a lot more expenditures over the next 18 years.

Making some of it vanish does provide a liberating feeling.  We have to do that here from time to time.  Just the other day DH made a comment about how he hopes that some of the stuff in the dining room (the give away pile plus where I've been staging items given by friends)  will disappear on Aug 1 (when the next curbside pick up will be occurring for a local charity).

I say get the blanket stuff but cut your crafting clutter in half (either by organizing it or eliminating some of it).  Schools, senior centers, community centers, all happily take donations of those sorts of things.
