Low grade fever and growth spurt?

Hey guys,

My little one (currently 3 months old-born 3 months premature) seems to be going through a growth spurt; she's eating more from the bottle and breastfeeding more frequently and has also been sleeping more.  Last night we noticed that she felt warm and took her temp.  She has had a low-grade fever hovering around 99 (highest was 99.5 that we took) degrees since last night.  She doesn't have any other symptoms like diarrhea, paleness, or vomiting so the doc said to keep her at home for now.

Have any of your little ones had a low grade fever associated with growth spurts?

Re: Low grade fever and growth spurt?

  • My DS is about 3 1/2 months (adjusted) and he does get low grade fevers from time to time, but often it's because I have him clothed too heavily and he's just hot...could that be the case with your LO?

This morning he felt warm to me, took his temp and it was 99 degrees, so I took his PJs off and he cooled down pretty quickly.  I am pretty sure he's been going through a growth spurt lately though, but not sure if it's related to temp spikes.  Maybe call your pedi?  They may have you bring her in if you are worried just to check her out.
