Baby Names

Baby Name book - a different kind

I want to buy a baby name book. My friend gave me one that is just a long alphabetical list and I didn't feel that inspired.

So I found this book online and am wondering if anyone has it? I like how it says the names are organized by meaning. It isn't at my library but I don't want to buy it and have it turn out to be full of weird names and hard to navigate. Any opinions? TIA!

  • No idea on the book you are looking at, but check your local thrift stores for baby name books. People tend to donate them when they are done with them. I find them all the time at our local thrift store. I got one for the animal shelter where I used to volunteer to help come up with names for the dogs. You could probably buy a handful of different books for the price of a new one. Just a thought. =)

  • I have no experience with that book either, but I also found the long winded alphabetical name books way too overwhelming and uninspiring. I really like old fashioned names and decided to check out the SSA website for inspiration. I think they go all the way back to the 1800's. I also looked up the registry from the Titanic (I found it online) and was very inspired by those names also! HTH and GL!
