Shoes?

Do you put shoes on your LO? I was wandering through a store the other day and saw some cute Nikes for my LO (at the price of $45- YIKES!). To me, that's such a waste of money at this point. I have some shoes that were gifted to LO that I put on him last night for the first time. I'm not sure if he was a fan of them or not. So, does your LO wear shoes or sandals? And if so, why?

Re: Shoes?

  • My dd has fat chunky feet that are so fat that they don't fit into most shoes, she does have a pair of crocs that fit her but she pulls them off. So no shoes for us.

The only shoes I have for DD are ones that were gifts. I think they are a big waste, I can't even keep socks on her feet.

  • LO has several pairs of shoes, most of them were gifts. I have brought 2 pair..Pink chuck taylors and pink ralph lauren shoes (both soft bottoms). They were about $30 bucks a piece. She wears shoes mostly if we are going somewhere, and sometimes I put them on her for DC. Other than that she is barefoot.

  • No shoes here.  I think it's a waste of money at this point.  He's barefoot all the time...it's so hot here it's not a big deal.  I think it's kind of weird to see babies who can't walk with shoes on.  Just my opinion though.

  • Nope. No shoes for us. In the summer he doesn't wear socks either. They just don't stay on.

  • DS is 7 months old and has never had a pair of shoes touch his feet.  We don't own any and I don't plan on buying any until he starts walking.

  • I don't see the point in baby shoes before they can walk. And after he starts walking he certainly isn't getting $45 Nikes he will grow out of in no time. DS has fat feet so I'm not certain I would be able to put anything on him besides sandals right now. He's just going barefoot this summer.

  • I found a pair of really cute sandals at a mom to mom sale.  They were brand new and just $1.  I was so excited about them.  Ha!!  LO won't keep them on for longer than 10 seconds.  I'm glad I only spent a dollar!

  • My mom bought DS a pair of flip flops that he wore for part of his 6 month photo shoot.  Other than that he's barefoot.  I don't really see the point.

  • We also got some as gifts, and they were mainly 0-3 or 3-6 month.  It was winter and he didn't seem to even notice them on his feet.  My cousin bought him some baby Sperrys and they were so cute I put them on him several times when we went out.

He wouldn't tolerate any shoes on now and we're not planning on buying him any until they he's walking and has to have them.

  • She had a pair of pink chucks (mostly for pics to match mommy!) that she has outgrown. I bought 2 pair of robeez practically new at a consignment shop, and she's outgrown one pair of them.

She has a couple pairs of sandals that were gifts, one pair she could never wear because her foot was way too short and way too fat. I think that may happen with the other pair as well.

She doesn't normally wear shoes but I had 3 people ask me yesterday where her shoes were or why she wasn't wearing shoes!!

I admit I love the tiny shoes though no matter how impractical. Most of the time I just look and do not buy, but when you find a pair of toddler chucks at goodwill for $2 you snag them!

  • Yes! my guy probably has had about 10 pairs of shoes from when he was born. Shoes complete the outfit! Love love Robeez so cute and easy to put on.

  • I bought one pair of black patent Mary Jane's for a photo shoot that never happened.  Margo has never had shoes on.  I'd rather spend money on other stuff.  And I squee over baby toes.

  • J was gifted around 5 pairs of shoes before he was born, he probably only wore 2 of those before his feet were too big.  I have personally only bought 1 pair of shoes from baby Gap and they are slip on loafers that are great with a lot of outfits (mostly church and family functions).  I don't plan on buying anymore until he can walk.
