A question and a poll- girl name

So I think we've got a girl name figured out- woot woot!  (I'm very impatient with the name topic and it's possible DH is just agreeing so he doesn't have to hear about it - little does he know I'll just start obsessing about a boy name Devil  mwuhahahhaa).  The middle name is the only thing now and it's down to 2 very similar names.  My mom's name is Julie and my Gma's mn is Anne so we're either going with Camille Julianne or Camille Julianna (julie-on-uh) depending on what sounds better.  Our last name is White.  I like that Julianne is a bit more direct but I might like the sound of Julianna better??? Idk.

My other question- is Millie too far off from Camille to be a nn?

Thank you!  I hadn't even said the nn with mason yet- I kinda like the sound of that too!

Millie is a common nn for Camille. Not at all a stretch.

I think Camille Julianna flows better than Camille Julianne, but I'm really not wild about your pronunciation of Julianna.

I thought that was the "right" way to pronounce it lol.  Would you pronounce it Julie- Ann-uh?

I like Juliana best for the middle name - I'd use this spelling (one "n") to get the pronunciation you want.  Phonetically, the spelling you've included would be Jul-ee-ann-ah, not Jul-ee-on-a.

    Yeah, I'd pronounce is Julie-ANN-uh.

It might just be me, but the "ahn" sound in Anna or Aunt feels soooo pretentious.  But, that might just be because very few people in my neck of the woods use it.  If it's normal in your area, go for it!

lol- I'm not sure what is normal in our area.  Hmm....now I'll have to think about how I'd want it pronounced.  Tbh, I hadn't really thought of Julianna pronounced like you did (which seems silly since the other option is Julianne which totally has the ann sound you're talking about).  Pronouncing it the way you say it would make it closer to my gma's mn anyway so that's a good option.

  • I agree with others on your pronunciation dilemma...Juliana = Ju-lee-ohn-a while Julianna = Ju-lee-ann-a

I guess I should've made 3 options!  I think it's a toss up for me with Juliana vs. Julianna- I like them equally.  So I guess it comes down to whether or not I want to go with Julianne which more directly honors my gma or altering with Juliana/Julianna it a bit (still with the thought behind it being my gma).

  • I think Camille Julianna works better because both names don't end with the same letter. Millie definitely works as a NN

  • I voted Julianna because I like the 4 syllables instead of just the 3 with Julianne. I also think Millie is an adorable nn and it sounds so sweet with your son's name!
  • I voted Camille Julianna (pronounced Ju-lee-Anna).

Both names were on our girl list!
