Still paranoid....

Anyone else have a UTI and their OBGYN gave a them a prescription of NitroFurantoin? My Dr said it was safe, and I checked with the pharmacists, and my GP and they all said it was fine, but Im still worried.....I guess I would feel better to hear that there have been others who have taken this medicine too....

Re: Still paranoid....

  • Yep. I've taken the exact same antibiotic for UTIs on multiple occasions, including during each of my three pregnancies. Never any negative effects, very quick acting. Take the full duration for what you've been prescribed. Unless you have an allergic reaction, you're good to go.

  • I had one last week, and that is what my Ob prescribed for me.  Plus, my pharmacist is my friend, and he always double checks stuff for me.  Everything seems to be fine, I took my last pill yesterday.
  • I took that with DS for what didn't end up being a UTI. I don't remember why they thought it was and then decided it was not but DS is perfect!!

  • Thank you!  Thank you!  Thank you! That makes me feel so much better!

  • You'll feel sooooo much better, too, if you've been walking around with a UTI for a while. I remember with my first baby thinking that, after curing a UTI, I was actually taking *fewer* trips to the bathroom than I did before I got pregnant. lmfao

  • The crazy thing about it was I had no "real" symptoms...I just figured I was using the bathroom all the time because I was pregnant...I may have had this for a while before it got picked up....I'm glad they found it and now that I have heard from all of you that the meds are definitely safe, I feel so much more comfortable. ( In both ways haha)

  • I'd had my "first" one for so long that I really had no idea there was any other way to feel. I just sort of figured everyone always felt an urgency when they needed to pee. After the antibiotics, things suddenly just felt "different" - now I know within a week or two if something's wrong. I go right in and have a UA to confirm, get my scrip, and get rid of it right away!
