NT Results are in!

Doctor said my numbers looked great, so there's no need for further testing. Our risk for Trisomy 21 is 1/16,000 and for Trisomy 18 is 1/4,700. I wasn't overly nervous, especially with our NT measurement being so low (0.8), but it feels good to have the results.

Now I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping to hear the heartbeat for the first time via doppler on Thursday! Assuming all goes well, I think DH and I will consider making the pregnancy FB official. So far the plan is to post a picture of DH in his Big Brother shirt with some sort of caption like "oops we did it again" (since this was a surprise pregnancy) or "...we're going to need another crib."

    That's so great to hear! I just scheduled mine today, but it isn't until 8/7.

    I was told that I have to go for the ultrasounds before I do the blood work for the NT scan. It sounds like you have done the blood work first...were you told differently?

    At the office I go to, they have a lab next store so you do it all on the same day. They use both results to calculate your risk.

    Thats great news.

     I just scheduled mine today.  I went in for the bloodwork today and I have mine on August 7.

    My practice encourages you to do the blood work first because it takes a while to come in (you just have to be at least 9 wks 4 days for the blood work). I had mine done two weeks before the ultrasound so they were able to tell me the combined results the same day as the scan.

    Im assuming this differs from doctor to doctor. I was told my blood work HAD to be done the same day as the ultrasound. Mines not until August 6 but I have to drive to the imaging center that morning then immediately afterward drive (about 20 minutes away) to the lab for the blood to be drawn.
