Anyone else on pelvic rest?

I haven't been around as much lately so I'm sorry if there was already a post about this! Saturday and yesterday I was having some mild cramping, and then yesterday I also had some light pink spotting. I called my doctor and went in for a u/s just to make sure everything was okay. The baby looked great- HB of 169, measuring 2 days ahead, and it was moving around a lot (so weird to see that!).

However, we did find out that I have a slight placenta previa- just the end of the placenta is over my cervix. So the nurse practitioner told me that until my next u/s around 18-20 weeks to check the placenta again, I have to be on pelvic rest- no sex! She is very hopeful that as my uterus expands the placenta will move into the normal position, but DH is obviously kind of bummed. I normally have a very low sex drive so it doesn't really bother me that much, but maybe once I start getting more energy back in 2nd tri it will bother me more.

Anyway, has anyone else been placed on pelvic rest?

Re: Anyone else on pelvic rest?

  • I am on pelvic rest and no exercise due to a SCH.  Such a bummer all around.  Aside from the no-sex thing, it makes me feel like I need to worry/things aren't perfect so I am missing a little bit of the joy that comes with crossing over the 12th week hurdle...

  • Yep. I get UTIs almost every time we have sex if I don't take low-dose antibiotics afterwards, and I don't want to take them in 1st tri. I also don't want to take the regular antibiotics I would need to if I got a UTI - the ones that are definitely safe for pregnancy don't work on my UTIs, so we have to go into the category of "probably safe, but talk about the risks/benefits with your dr before taking them," and I'm not comfortable with that, either. So no sex. :-(

This.  Although the doctor thinks I can finally get back to running soon because I miss it so much and worry about weight gain.

  • My RE requires pelvic rest for IVF and FET.  When I should have been "released" from pelvic rest, my SCH was discovered, so I'm still on it.  Going on 8 weeks - and it's going to be that way indefinetly.  The bleeding I had last week was so heavy that DH is freaked out and said he's mandating pelvic rest throughout the pregnancy (even if my OB lifts it at some point).

Went through the same thing last fall, and when all was said and done it was about 14 weeks of pelvic rest.

I am on pelvic rest because of some brown spotting last Wed. I guess that will last until my next appointment at least which will be August 6th. I did have a partial placenta previa with my second pregnancy but it ended up moving up and out of the way.
