Party Pooper : (

I told DH about my mustache bash theme a couple weeks ago and he laughed and said he'd have to think about growing a mustache.  I took that to mean he was ok with theme, even if he didn't think it was awesome.

Fast forward to today.  I'm ready to start buying stuff/make the inviation for the party.  I email him to confirm the theme.

Nope.  Not happening.  He's very anti mustache bash.  In fact, he's anti theme all together.  We can have a theme when Augie actually is into something other than shoes and remotes, like when he's 3 we can have a train party.

Sigh.

    Boo DH :(

You can still do shapes/colors/etc without it being too theme-y.

  • We are doing a color theme. Turquoise and fushia pink with poplar dots. I think it will be great and look.nice. maybe just a color theme to help you narrow decorations and such?

  • I'm bummed : (

Seriously, if I hadn't said a word about it and just done all the work he would have been like oh, cool.  But I had to include him on the planning, duh.

I think I'll just pick two colors, maybe blue and lime green, and just really embrace it.  I'll get fun cups, plates, crape paper streamers, balloons, etc.

  • I must be a bad wife. I would do the mustache theme anyways! But your idea of colors sounds cute too.

He's quite opinionated on this kind of stuff.  If I include him in planning, he gets really involved.  I should have learned by now NOT to include him!

Picking out stuff for our new bedroom (duvet, sheets, wall colors, accent pillows) took like 2 weeks of intense planning ... ::eye roll::

  • Boo! I missed that theme- sounds like fun! The color one sounds good too though. Maybe you can sneak a few mustaches in here and there?

  • I've mentioned a rainbow theme for Cara's birthday but I don't think DH really understands what I mean. I'm not really letting him in on too much because he would think a theme for a one year old is silly. I'm sure the day of the party he will tell me I'm going overboard. I agree you can have a theme without being theme-y.

My DH will show zero interest in planning anything until I'm 99% finished, then come in and veto everything.

That said, we're not having a theme either because it will be entirely too difficult to please him. (It's still Testes Tuesday right?)

Gah!  I thought men were supposed to just say "yes dear" and leave this kind of stuff up to the women.  I guess it's nice that he gets involved and helps but he is so flipping opinionated.  "Sure honey, tell me where to hang the mustache banner" is all I'm really looking for here!

  • I don't have a theme! I might end up with one... But have a feeling it will just be colors.

Sorry your H ruined the fun. Mustache bash sounds awesome. Maybe you should have a shoe and remote themed party just to stick it to your H Stick out tongue

  • I've never done a theme for any of my kids' first birthday and the party's have always been fun.  FWIW, having done themed birthdays as they got older, I find that I was much less stressed without one.
