Advice on hanging paper lanterns

I hung paper lanterns from the ceiling in the nursery but they have all fallen down. I used heavy duty clear packing tape.  Is there a better way to hang these?

  • I would probably use thumb tacs, or a small hook that will screw into the ceiling

    I would do this too.

Packing tape isn't strong enough to withstand the pull from gravity, especially since it's likely that you're ceiling is textured.

Even the heavy-duty packing tape is useless with it comes to withstanding gravity. Trust me...we were doing a huge school-spirit push and packing tape was the only thing they'd let us use, and the things we were hanging up (simple banners made of lightweight butcher paper) were barely sticking to the walls, doors, ceilings, etc.

  • Like the other girls said you will need to use a hook or a very very strong tack of some sort.  Tacks work if you put them in separately.  I would use a hook to put them up all together.

  • thnanks ladies, I didnt even think of thumb tacs, that will probably work perfectly!
  • We used 3M command mini hooks (clear) for our poms and also a dream catcher from PBK's which is definitely heavier than the poms....no issues and it's been about a month!  I got them at Target.....

THIS. The 3M mini hooks can barely even see them on the ceiling!
