Re: When did you start tummy time?

  • I was told to start as soon as his umbilical cord fell off.

  • I started right away. Did not wait. At the beginning you can tell when your LO is getting tired and can't do it anymore then roll them over. My son LOVES it. He almost prefers to play like that. But after about 10-15 minutes he starts to get lazy and lay his head down more.

  • About 4 weeks. DD seems to mostly not mind it, but for shorter periods of time.

  • we were told to right away like two times a day or something. we havent done it a whole lot because she was sleeping alot during the day.
  • We tried to start right away, but LO had absolutely zero interest in it.  He would just lay there with his face smushed into his mat until we rolled him back over.  Even now, at almost three months, he doesn't like tummy time and will start fussing after a few minutes.

  • as soon as we got home. I can only do it once a day, she likes it for the most part.

This is my LO too.  I get him on the floor for tummy time at least once a day.  I work so he is in daycare all day.  He doesn't like it and will eat the mat usually.  I have been trying to show him a toy while he's down there to get him interested in turning his head and lifting it.  It works sometimes.  He won't tolerate it for more than a few minutes.

  • i do 1-2 minutes everyday, but I just started when she was about a month old... she is 6 weeks now.. and when she's on me she really holds her head great, but when she's on the floor she gets really (excuse my language) pissed at me. LOL  I also use the boppy, and still, she hates it... but i keep telling her, Mommy knows best... =)

  • We started around a week or so, and in the last few weeks he's been really exerting himself - trying to roll over, trying to scoot, trying to keep his head up, etc. He screams when he does these things and we used to be alarmed, but he's really just screaming with the exertion and stops immediately once he's done what he's trying to do.

  • The day we got home from the hospital. She digs it, especially when she can look out the window. We have tummy timeat least 3 times a day, from the start, for 10-30 minutes at a time. Usually I roll her from her back to tummy a few times ( a few minutes in tummy, a few on back)... She seems to stay more interested if I do this.
