I am currently 36 weeks pregnant and have a history of pre-eclampsia with my first DS. At this point my blood work looks good, but my blood pressure has been creeping up and my doctor is talking about inducing between 37 and 39 weeks depending on what my blood work/24 hour urine cultures look like. My current diagnosis is Gestational Hypertension.
I had a long (like 45 minute) discussion with my doctor yesterday trying to get a feel for how she would handle various scenarios. She asked if I was comfortable scheduling an induction at 39 weeks and I said that I really wanted to wait and see what my body does and how the baby is doing. I am aware that with pre-e things can move fast and become ugly very quickly. (I know of two women who's babies died from HELP syndrome.) I had her check my cervix because that gives me good information about how my body could handle an induction. It is currently closed and softening/thinning slightly. I'm doing everything I can to help that process along. (She oked EPO and nipple stimulation along with good old fashioned sex.)
The other problem is that baby is still pretty high. Any tips on ways to help him come down? If I have a pre-e diagnosis my doctor will induce immediately, and I am comfortable with that. I'm at a point where that diagnosis could be made at any time and I'd like to help my body prepare as much as possible. Sorry this is so long. Additional information is always welcome!
Re: Anyone have tips? sorry a bit long
I spent as much time as possible sitting on a birthing ball, bouncing a bit if it was comfortable, or rocking my hips side to side and front to back, or wiiiide hip circles, all with my legs far apart. I walked a lot and did daily squats. *only practice squatting if you're sure LO is head-down.
HTH! Good luck!
