Q about Bedrest After Transfer

How strict are you with your bedrest? My RE recommends 24 hours bedrest after a transfer. My question is - do you lay strictly on your back? I can only lay on my back for so long then I have to switch to my side. Would this affect anything?

Might seem like a silly Q, but this is the 4th transfer for me, and I dont want to mess with anything! So sick of BFNs!

I was not strict with bed rest at all-I more or less just took it easy for a couple of days-but my RE doesn't prescribe bedrest (however, you can also see that that cycle didn't work)

As long as you're doing bed rest I doubt it would matter if you're on your back or side.

I am scared about my upcoming bedrest...they said 4 days (not including day of ET) ....I got them to include the ET day, thankfully, but I need to find out what constitutes as bed rest....like can I go on my vacation that is booked the same week Tongue Tied

I am interested to see how others reply to this as well.

My local RE for my past three ET's required three days. I am interested to hear what others say and what Schoolcraft at CCRM will recommend. I plan to ask him this and a gazillion other questions during my phone consult late August.

Mine was 3 days strict bed rest. My head could only elevate 30 degrees over my body, but I could lay on either side or my back. They said I could get up to go to the bathroom only. Not sure how much it helped since we had a BFN...

24 hours after transfer. I typically sit up on the couch/bed or lie down. After the 24 hours, they say "light activity" for a few days.

My RE doesn't even recommend bedrest. For my FET and this IVF I was pretty much back to my normal routine by the evening (normal routine meaning dinner, baths, and bedtime for two toddlers). FET was a c/p which I chalk up to a bum embryo as opposed to an implantation issue. This IVF is successful so far (6 weeks tomorrow). So, I think you'd be fine switching to your side. Good luck!

My instructions are two days of pretty strict bedrest. During the first day, I get bathroom privileges only and on the second day, I can sit at a table for meals. Other than that, it is light activity pretty much up until beta and no working out or lifting anything over 15 lbs.

I am planning lots of TV and movies for day one, but hopefully I can prop up and use my laptop during day two...

My RE's definition of bed rest is simply taking it easy. That would include sitting up in bed, or in a chair doing work. I stayed in bed all day, but mostly because I enjoyed the day off and not out of necessity or because of doctor's orders. Good luck!

My RE does not require bed rest. On the day of ET, just light activity and lots of rest, for the days following-you can pretty much go back to normal life, low impact exercise, reduce/eliminate stress, continue massages/acupuncture and no heating pads/hot tubs.

I put myself on bed rest for all of my past IVF/FET cycles, except for this FET cycle since we are taking care of a toddler.
