I'd like ot hear if anyone had a c-section with LO b/c of a large head circumference/failure to fit through birth canal, and a successful VBAC. If so, what made the difference? (smaller baby second time, fluke bad position the first time, etc.)
My DS was over 10 lbs with a head the size of a 12 lb baby. They did not consider that the main reason for the c/s (after my water broke, his cord got caught under him, so he was in distress). He was also malpositioned for birth at that time.
However, my VBAC baby was almost two full pounds lighter (still with an above average sized head because everyone in my family has big heads!) But she was positioned perfectly and came right out!
I was the opposite of MAPrincess - my first son was average size, but OP, and I had a c/s with him after 4+ hours of pushing. DS2 was 10.5 lbs, 14+ in head, and a successful VBAC. For me, I think it was just positioning.
My VBAC baby had a 13.5 inch head and was OP. My csection baby had a 12.5 inch head and was also OP. DD1 started having heart decels during pushing and would not drop. DD2 took awhile to get under the bone, but I only pushed for an hour and a half and she was out...Even with her positioning.
So I guess I had a bigger headed baby on my VBAC even if the positioning was not the greatest. I had a really good nurse with DD2 who had me pushing in a bunch of different positions. I think that helped a ton.
Both DD and DS have large heads (runs in my side of the family LOL). DD was 7 lbs, 1 oz with a 14 inch head, and she was my c/s after my water broke on its own, but labor failed to get started fast enough for the OB. They said she was diagonal, and "wedged" with her elbow above her ear.
DS was my VBAC baby, and he was 8 lbs, 2 oz with a 14.5 inch head.
I think seeing a prenatal chiropractor routinely made a big difference in fetal positioning (never saw one with DD). I also think that my labor care with DD completely sucked and I was never even given a chance. With DS, I was encouraged to move around the entire labor and was allowed to birth in the water at the hospital. Hands down my birth team and location were both huge contributing factors to my successful VBAC!

My son's head is huge, off the charts, lol. My easy vbac daughter has a perfectly normal head Who knows what made the difference but it is possible to have a smaller headed second child
