Hi there I'm 20 weeks and just got diagnosed w pp. I have been really upset about it , mostly scared of bed rest and delivering early. Does anyone havexperience with this? I am freaking out and trying to stay off my feet but I have a 2 year old!!!
I had this with DS and am worried I might have it this time (same symptoms), but won't know until my a/s monday. They just told me no sex and to keep it easy for a while. They monitored me every few weeks with an u/s and by 30w the placenta moved out of the way. The symptoms I had were spotting for several weeks in the first tri and weird cramping throughout 2nd tri. I have had both this time too. DS is just fine and delivered perfectly healthy at 39w.
You're in SJ too! I had two friends on bed rest last summer (for different reasons) ... one had a child (about 3 or 4) and it was challenging. She had a lot of help from people in her Las Madres group, and a child care co-op, some from in laws, etc. but she made it from early July all the way to the end of Nov/early Dec when they decided she was far enough along (had LO few days before Christmas). I'll private msg you.
Thank you!!! I haven't bled at all but put me on pelvic rest and no lifting or exercise. I just don't know what means taking it easy. I have to do housework and work so I'm so nervous I'll be pushing it, but that makes me feel better
finally figured out how to private msg ... not intuitive. I must admit I wasn't comfortable with the idea of vacuuming, lifting/pushing things that are heavier, climbing step stools at various points in the pregnancy, and it's tough stopping yourself from doing things you'd normally do and saying no, but as one friend put it, "you're pregnant, you don't have to do *** if you don't want to" and with that mantra, I don't feel so bad on days I don't take the dishes out of the dishwasher (or load it) because bending forward makes my intestines ache from being squeezed. ... I started finding work arounds, or just dealt with seeing the dust bunnies in the hall way. Might be easier because I am self imposing the restrictions, but either way, you gotta do what's best for you & having the pregnancy go to term.
As soon as I suspected (partially from some light headness/balance being off), I stopped using the step stool to reach the higher parts of the board at work - got a student to post the homework for me & they loved it. Maybe there is a teenager in your neighborhood still on summer break (right about the time they're bored anyway) who could come and play with your first one, maybe even help out with some of the house work. Not sure what the current going rate is, but if you're there, it'd be considered being a "mother's helper" - I did that in middle school (starting in 5th grade) & it led to babysitting while in high school.
They told me I had a "small" amount of placenta over my cervix at my a/s a few days ago (19 weeks), but the doctor didn't seem that concerned. He said I can continue with all my normal activities, and that they would check me again in 8-10 weeks on ultrasound to see if it has moved. He did warn me about having a c-section if it doesn't move, but said the chances of that are only about 1 in 100... trying to stay positive!
My doctor told me I have partial placenta previa at my 19 week appointment but didn't mention anything to avoid. I'm supposed to get another appointment in 8 weeks to see if it has improved. What activities are you supposed to avoid?
