Do you go to a Renaissance festival?

It has been years since we have gone.  My kids really want to go.  I have to make costumes. Audrey will be easy I can just pull from her dress-up clothes.  My H thinks it would be funny to go as Darth Vader. Great! Here is DHGeeked here is me Hmm.

Does anyone else go to the renaissance festivals, and do you dress up?

  • We went once and did not dress up. I would say it was 70/30, those not dressed to dressed. It was fun though.

  • I used to go a lot back home. I dressed up a few times but not every time. Always fun!

Are you thinking of going to the one in MN that starts next month? I've never been to one, but my friend wants us to go to that one in September for the Chocolate and Wine weekend.

Yes, that is the one.  We are going 18-19 of August, pet weekend!

This except add a stroller 3 kids and a dog.

He says "What? I'm from a long time ago just in a galaxy far far away."There is no way I'm talking him out of this.

A pet weekend sounds fun. My friend had heard about that festival, but none of us have been there. She wants to do a girls' weekend there. Have you been to it on a Chocolate, Wine, and Romance weekend? (Not sure if it would be too romance oriented for a group of women, especially with one getting over a break up from a very long-term relationship.) Any tips or things to know? Thanks!

I think wine weekend is probably the most popular don't worry about the romance....you'll find romance with the pickle guys!Wink  They love to sell their dills to all the maidens.

I guess my only tip is that if it has rained lately it gets muddy and bring lots of money!  There are lots of shows but a ton of little artisan shops, and food everywhere!

  • I go for the turkey legs and fried ice cream but I'd never dress up. I want to take the kids this year.
  • I have always wanted to go.

    Take pictures for sure!!!

  • I've been a few times.  I don't dress up, but I was surprised last year how many people were!  It was soooo hot so I can't imagine wearing a costume.  I think it would be a fun thing for kids.
