What type of detergent do you/are you planning on using for LO's clothes? I have heard that dreft isn't really free of chemicals and was leaning towards 7th generation.
I have heard that Dreft isn't worth the cost and it's not fragrance free which can irritate skin.
We use Tide Free and Gentle (I think that's what it's called). It's gentle on his skin and doesn't have any fragrance. We use Tide for our clothes, so we knew it worked well and they make it for High Efficiency washers (which we have).

Thanks, I didn't even think of tide, which is what I use now but that would probably be less expensive. I also have an HE washer.
I'll be making my own (at least thats the hope) and using ivory soap as the primary soap in it...
FYI - I've heard multiple places that if you use something special for LO you might as well use it for all of your clothes the baby spends as much time laying on your clothes as they do for theirs

Yep. But now we just switched to regular tide. Most newer washers rinse so well there is really no need for a different detergent for a baby.
I think as long as you use free and clear you should be fine. Dreft is a joke and is the most perfumed laundry detergent i have ever smelled nt to mention a rip off. We cloth diaper and use Charlie's Soap on all of our clothes.

I use Arm & Hammer Free already, so I'll keep using that. Every now and then I contemplate starting to use homemade detergent, but haven't quite gotten there yet.
We make our own already, and plan to continue using the same recipe, perhaps with oxyclean, on baby's clothes and diapers
I'm sure your recipe is similiar (they all seem to be) but do you mind sharing it? Also - how has your experience with it been? I'm anxious to start and trying to get all the feedback I can!

I believe it's 1c washing soda, 1c borax, 1 bar ivory soap (or fela naphtha. zote, any other soap). I've seen recipes that replace the ivory with 1/2c oxyclean or add a little oxyclean. We might do that. I use 1 spoonful per load and we've been using it for a year and have had no issues with it. We like it

thanks! I just got 3 bars of ivory soap (3 sets too) for like 27 cents on coupon so I'm excited to use a great product at a great price I do love phelps napatha though so I think I might double it - and use one bar felps and one bar ivory.... we'll see
We are cloth diapering as well, hello other CD'ers!
I plan to use a detergent made by a local mom, it's so much cheaper and a tiny bit goes a long way. I would probably make it myself if I were crafty like that, because the recipe looks super easy, but I'm just not interested. Rather purchase.
My daughter's dermatologist recommends All Free & Clear, that's what I've been using since she was a baby since she had terrible eczema and that's what I'll be using for Baby #3.

This. We're also going to try Dropps

We've used Kirkland's free and clear from Costco & currently we're using Tide free and clear. LO has no problem with both brands.

We use Purex free and clear. We also plan to cloth diaper and its one of the few mainstream brands with high ratings on cloth diapering sites.
Currently going through our second deployment. Can't wait for Zoe to meet her daddy!

I've heard that All Free & Clear is just as good as the super "green" detergents, but a lot more budget friendly. We're going to give that a try.
