Tips Traveling w/ a Young Infant on an Airplane

Hi Ladies,

My husband and I are planning to attend a destination wedding later this year.  However, we have never traveled with our daughter, who will be about 10 months by then.  I was wondering if you guys had any tips.  It is going to be quite a long flight.  We have chosen not to get a seat for my baby and hold her in our laps.  I'm sure we need to bring a stroller, but I'm not sure about the car seat.  I've reading conflicting opinions about bringing your own car seat vs. renting one from the car rental companies.  Thanks in advance.

Are you still breastfeeding?  Now that my son is older, we've rented carseats.  However, if your baby still fits in an infant carrier, I would bring it.  We would bring either our frame stroller or our Bob with car seat attachment when we flew.  You might also want an ergo or other baby carrier to keep your hands free.
