Baby Showers

Special Gift

Hello,

My sister-in-law is pregnant and we're planning a surprise girls weekend to celebrate with her. I'd like to get her a gift - something as a surprise for her and not the baby. She's due in September so maybe something to pamper her...? Just looking for some ideas.

Thanks!

Re: Special Gift

  • A gift certificate for a prenatal massage and a pedicure would be great.  It gets tough to reach your own toes at the end!

  • A spa day would be really nice! My cousin (also my best friend) had a son in March and I brought necklace to the hospital for her with his birthstone, she wears it almost everyday.

This is exactly what I was going to say.  Pampering is always great before the LO arrives.

Yes I'm due in Sept too and this is exactly what I would want :)

  • Spa day is great.  If you want other ideas, a cleaning service for her house or some other type of service to do something she normally does herself.

Or if you want something you can wrap, a fabulous purse or pair of shoes?  Granted its not the most practical gift for a new mom but I feel like the minute you get pregnant you start second guessing those little indulgences b/c you have other expenses.  Its nice to treated to something special that has absolutely nothing to do with being pregnant.

  • Maternity massages are common around here. As a going-away gift from my last job I received a gift certificate for a European Pedicure. This is the description from the website (I'm planning to use it for my birthday next month):

Soothing soak, foot scrub and mask to eliminate dry cracked heels,
nail grooming and polish. Stay relaxed with lower leg and
foot massage, warm herbal eye and neck packs
  • I vote for a spa day too, but you could also do a designer diaper bag, like a nice Coach or Kate Spade. Baby-related, but not for the baby per se.
  • Spa certificate are good as long asshe would use them, but I got one during my pregnancy and never used it. Weird, I know, but it's just not my thing. I would prefer to get a gift she could keep: I love the jewelry idea or the nice diaper bag/purse idea!
