Drowsy but awake at nap time

Hi ladies,

I've been MIA for awhile, so I apologize that I don't know many people on here! Anyway, LO is a champ at bedtime. No issues with falling asleep on his own. But naps are a different story. We've been rocking him to sleep at every nap. It usually only takes 5 min or so. Lately, we've been trying to get him to fall asleep on his own, but it has been terrible. He's been crying every nap for at least 20 min, and it isn't getting any better. When we sleep trained before, it was about a week and he was done.

Any suggestions? Do you have a naptime routine? Or does it even matter?

  • Naps are not independent here either. I decided just to rock her and enjoy it while it lasts.

  • We are in the same boat. Max usually goes down fine at bedtime after a story and falls asleep on his own. Naps are ANOTHER STORY. We used to do Ferber and he was napping great but traveling and teething threw us off. Now he just won't nap, no matter what I do! Mama needs a break!!

After our next trip I plan to implement a stricter nap routine and try to move to one nap a day at noon time. I plan to give him lunch, a little sponge bath (to mimick our night time routine!) then do a story and put him down.

I find if I nurse him to sleep or rock him to sleep for naps it ends up messing up bedtime!

  • What age do they usually move to one nap a day? I was thinking about doing the same thing...
