November 2011 Moms

ugh what a day! and its only 10:20! (VENT)

Rorri is getting all 4 of her canines and had her first fever last night but slept surprisingly well! 13 1/2 hours but still woke up super crabby and won't eat solids(which is fine because I just upped her formula amount) and I feel awful for her! I've tried tylenol and orajel and teething rings but they all only work for about an hour. DH actually is home this weekend and what is he doing.....playing video games and saying things like "where's my breakfast?" Jokingly I know.but today I can't handle it! I just want my happy baby back and an hour to myself where no one says a word to me....ok vent over :)

  • I wouldn't use Orajel. It's been tied to many deaths because of the ingredients. Try using teething tablets. Our pedi said to use motrin for teething instead of Tylenol.

Sorry. I know how you feel, it's awful when you can't do anything to help them. On the bright side, atleast she's sleeping good, when DS is teething he sleeps horribly!

I would tell DH to take her for an hour and lock yourself in the bedroom!

You can get the orajel natural, that's what I use.

I wouldn't either. It hardens the gums and makes it harder for the teeth to break through. Hope your LO is back to herself soon.

  • Is the bad ingredient benzocaine the only problem?

I have been using baby orajel cleansing solution for his teeth....now it doesn't do anything as far as relieving teething pain, etc... but I'm paranoid cuz it's orajel. Says nothing about benzocaine on the ingredient list

  • Yuck, sounds rough :(  sorry you're going through this. I've heard that acetaminophen is not very effective for teething pain compared to ibuprofen. It certainly doesn't do anything for my headaches. I think tylenol is more effective at reducing fevers. On the other hand, ibuprofen (motrin) always works great for pain and have also heard that it's much better for baby's teething pain. I think I might give it a shot myself and see if it helps DD because tylenol does nothing for us too.
