Besides CIO...

Any tips on crib transition? I am on night 6 and he's still waking about 25 times a night ( usually sleeps through the night in his RNP) I thought it would slowly get better but it's actually gotten worse!

Have you read Ferber's Book Solve your Child's Sleep Problems?  If not, I would start there.  It is a version of CIO, but there are a lot of tips and good information in there.

If that doesn't work, read the Sleep Lady Shuffle.

  • has his RNp always been in his room or your room? Could you try putting him in his RNP in his room? so it's a two step transition.

  • Have you tried CIO for just a little? He may only cry for 10-20 minutes then go to sleep. Understand that some parents don't want to do this....just wondering if you have tried it....we did with out twins when they transitioned out of the swaddle....just a few days ago.  My doctor said it was okay to let them cry and they are just four months....I was really skeptical at first but he said that since they have been sttn for almost two months, that it is just the swaddle transition.  So we tried it and it seems to be working.  We transitioned Thursday and one twin sttn again from 7-6 last night.  FYI we did check on them a couple times to let them know we are here....but after that, they did cry, but not for very long, then went back to sleep.

    (pls excuse iPad typos)

  • I'm trying a swing transition I read about on troublesometots.com, but my DD doesn't sleep through the night even in the swing. She does sleep 2.5-3 hours at a stretch in her crib but she can't put herself to sleep yet so that's what we're really working in. There's lots of good advice on that website.

His RNP has been in his room for a month and he does fine...great suggestion though, that is where we started
