How many ounces a day?

I was just thinking about it, and S has only had 3 bottles today. We have random days like this. He had two 8oz bottles and one 6oz, so approx. 22oz a day? He is also eating finger foods and such, and SOME purees (he has to have applesauce or something to take his baby aspirin and another transplant drug he is on, they are ground up.) I'm curious what the average oz a day is around here?

Re: How many ounces a day?

  • Abby eats about 20oz a day of 26 kcal formula (normal is 20 kcal). So calorie wise, she's drinking the same as 26oz of normal formula. Abby takes a few bites of purees or other finger foods, but nothing substantial to really count as calories.

  • A really fluctuates, but on average, he takes about 24oz, with one or two meals of solids during the day. He just started actually swallowing his solids though, so the amount is really not a big deal.

  • It depends on the day.  Anywhere from 24-30oz.  He typically does four 6oz and a 4oz bottle overnight.  He does finger foods and the occasional puree two or three times a day.  Lately he's been so busy doesn't seem interested in food.

  • Ronin typically eats 4 8 oz bottles a day plus 3 meals of solid foods (mix of puree and finger foods).  In the last week or so, though, he has only been eating about 5 or 6 of the 8 oz bottles, though.  He is eating more of his finger food, so I guess that's normal.

  • I'm still making her four 8 oz bottles a day, but she only finishes the first and last.  So probably around 26-28 oz.  She eats breakfast and dinner.
  • I think DS usually averages about 24 oz but some days he has less and I freak out. I asked the pedi at his 9 month appointment and she said anything above 16 oz is okay.

  • Ds gets bm, but he gets pumped bm more often than he nurses. He gets about 16-18 oz a day. I asked my dr if that was normal and he it was. He get 3 meals a day of solids and has 3 or 4 snacks. He loves his solids.

This is Layla too, I have been unable to pump enough for her bottle when i'm gone during the day, so I nurse her in the morning, then she gets a 4-6oz formula bottle while I'm gone 9-1, then I nurse her a couple times, and she usually takes another 4-6 oz bottle before bedtime, most of the time it's 1/2 formula 1/2 breastmilk unless on a fluke I pump enough for her whole bottle, or I'm home for bedtime.

She does love her solids though, she eats 3 meals a day and 2-3 snacks of puffs, crackers or fruit, she absolutely loves watermelon right now.

My pedi said the same thing.

We still offer E five 6oz bottles per day, but she doesn't always finish them. I plan to change her schedule a bit this week - subtracting one bottle and adding a snack with a sippy of water. We're trying to encourage solids and finger foods over formula at this point.

  • LBB nurses, so I'm not sure, but given his intake at daycare I would assume around 28oz a day, and  then he eats breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

  • Pumpkin drinks 22 oz a day (8 oz first thing, 6 oz at lunch and 8 oz at bedtime) plus three goodsized solid meals.  He usually gets 1/3 cup of cereal in the morning, 1/2 a large jar of meat & veggies (stage 2 or 3) plus about 1/2 a large jar of fruit at lunch and same in the evenings with puffs inbetween.

  • Cora has 24-32 ounces a day, depending on with time she gets up. Also, the last 4 ounces before bed are only half strength formula (we are trying to transition to water before bed since she only wants the bottle 50% of the time anyway). She eats 3 ounces of greek yogurt or cottage cheese and 1/2 a pouch of fruit/veggie mix in the morning, cut up fruit and finger foods (today she has leftover pasta and meet sauce) in the afternoon, and dinner with us.

Shs eats her 8 oz bottles at 8, 12 and 4 and her meals at 10, 2 and 6.

  • Li gets 2 8oz bottles of formula a day.  She also eats 3-5 puree pouches a day and finger foods.

  • I am so glad you posted this because I've been a little worried!

I offer Rhys four 7 oz bottles a day, but he really only finishes the first one. So he gets about 22-28 oz, which is really down from his usual 35 oz. He's also just gone down on his intake within the last two weeks. He also gets three meals of 4 oz of pur?es with some finger foods throughout the day.

I'm really happy to see that this is normal, if not a little more than normal!
