Re: Killer Headachs

  • I am getting really bad headaches as well and got them with my first.  The ONLY thing that did the trick was 2 tylenol AND caffeine (cup of coffee or can of soda)  It worked about 98 percent of the time with my first and hasn't failed me yet with this one!

  • I have really bad headaches and not much helps them. I try Tylenol and sleep. I can't try the caffeine trick since I haven't drank caffeine in 8 years.

  • I am getting them too. I haven't taken anything, I am just nervous, just kinda sucking it up. UGH!

  • Mine have been terrible too! I was up at 1:30 am and the only thing that seemed to work was pseudoephed. My doctor had it on the safe list, as long as it is just plain pseudoephed, and not pseudoephed-D...and not the type that contains pseudoephedrine. The CVS over the counter brand was okayed.

  • Yeah, my headaches have been pretty rough lately. Make sure you're drinking enough water.

  • I do 2 extra strength tylenol when they are that rough (been getting them a couple times a week) and a cold pack on my head...lay in bed and usually fall asleep...good luck they are a killer

  • My friend had these and the only thing that helped her was a combo of pain meds and a cup of coffee.  They sound miserable.  Hope you get some relief.

This! Even my OB suggested it. I take 2 extra strength tylenol and have a little soda and if it's a really bad one but a cold towel on my head. It doesn't always work to make it go 100% away but definitely softens the blow.

  • oh man I have had the Same problem! OB also suggested the caffeine coupled with the tylenol. My doc also gave me benadryl and said that if the caffeine and tylenol together doesnt knock it out then to try caffeine, tylenol and benadryl. Last night I tried this because I seemed to grow an immunity to the first remedy. Sadly the benadryl didn't do anything. I have a headache right now actually and will probably just go to bed early (if i can sleep). I was told it was hormones but wasnt told WHEN this would lessen or subside so we may have to deal with it for the entire pregnancy. Good luck to you! If I find anything else that helps I will definitely let you know!!

  • My doctor prescribed me a pill. She said my hormones were making my migraines worst. Its butalbital acetimenophine (tylenol) and caffeine. Mine was lasting for 5 days non stop. I finally called my doc and that's what she gave me. Its a pretty common tension/migraine headache reliever: )

  • I've had really had headaches for 3 weeks and like you Tylenol does nothing. I haven't found anything that is a sure fire way to get rid of them all the time. Sometimes a lot of water helps, sometimes not. Sometimes a small snack helps, sometimes not. Sometimes a small amount of caffeine helps, sometimes not. Normally, I just have to deal with it . . which totally sucks. If I have the chance I normally try to take a nap to avoid having the deal with it but a lot of the time I wake up with it too.

  • Is anyone else extremely tired and sometimes dizzy too? Especially in the mornings, I have zero energy and feel a little dizzy these past few weeks (I have to sit down and take a break while putting my makeup on or drying my hair).

It sucks that we all have these headaches but I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'm going on 3 weeks of this, and I'm a pretty miserable person (and miserable to everyone around me!). I had given up caffeine but it's the only thing that helps -- that and tylenol. I hate taking medicine while pregnant but I can't function otherwise.

YES! i have that too. usually right after i puke my brains out but sometimes in the morning i feel i could just lay in bed all day. or if i try and get up the world starts spinning so i have to lay back do for a moment.

As for the headach mine finally subsided yesterday night at around 10pm. after my husband infromed me he finished the last of the tylenol and the soda that was shot so i just layed in bed with a rag over my head, i munched alittle and i had some water but none of them really had an impact on it. i am however going to try and do the tylenol and caffeen together and see if that helps TY so much ladies for all your responses!

  • Don't worry, you're certainly not alone! My headaches started at about 12 weeks, and the word miserable doesn't even begin to accurately describe them. I go to bed with them at night, wake up repeatedly throughout the night because they're so terrible, and then wake up with them again in the morning. My OB said regular or extra strength tylenol was fine as long as you stick to the label, and at first I could get away with one extra strength tylenol a day and they would go away..now, however, tylenol does not help at all :( My SIL said to try some caffine, and that helps a little, but there's nothing I've found to make them go away 100%. If I can, I like to lay in a dark, quiet room with a cold rag or ice pack on my head, and that seems to help (for now at least)...hopefully these subside for everyone soon!

  • I've been getting them for the past 2-3 weeks as well. I use to only get them at night and I usually just went to sleep, but they've started showing up early/midday lately. I've now had one for almost 6 hours, no joke. Tylenol doesn't help. Caffeine doesn't help, especially because I don't want to drink it everyday (or take Tylenol everyday for that matter). I haven't found a consistent remedy. I definitely plan on talking about this with my doctor at tomorrow's appointment though.

    Pregnancy Ticker

  • jdm7jdm7 member

I get migraines in pregnancy pretty bad. I just tend to sit in dark rooms for a little while (if I can). If I get them while at work, I'll try to head out an hour early and go home and lay down for a little bit before picking DD up from daycare.

I don't take anything for them because its just a waste of swallowing a pill that doesn't work. Sometimes having a little bit of caffeine will help (like a small coffee, or even half of a small coffee). And drinking plenty of water.
