Good morning,
my DS turned 2 today and I was going to start having his 6 month old brother sleeping in the same room, I was also wanting to start the process of taking away his binkie..my question is should I do both at the same time? do one first? if one first, which one? any suggestions on how to do the transtion or taking away the binkie? TIA
Re: sleeping together and take away Binkie
no paci = no sleep in our house
We tried to take away DS's paci at 18 months before putting two kids in a room together. After 10 sleepless nights we caved. You may not want advice from me though, because the kids have been sharing a room for about a year but they both still have a paci for sleeping at 2.5y and 15m.
I would take the binkie first then move his sibling in. If he cries for a long time at night the first couple of nights you don't want him to wake up his brother. I can't see him having a problem with the transition to someone else in his room. The binkie will be tough but it passes quickly most of the time.
GL!
This is the same for us. DS gave his up at about 2yrs 8months, and the Binkie fairy came took away his binkies, and left him some trains. She apparently also took away his naps. Since he gave up his Binkie (with the binkie, he would nap 2-3 hours every day), he has pretty much not napped unless he was completely exhausted. He was never a very good sleeper, though, so that was one of the main reasons I waited to take it away.
