1st Trimester

worried that there hasn't been any MS

I'm hoping someone can offer some advice on a concern I have.  Last week, I took a HPT and it showed a positive.  I took five more with the same wonderful results and even visited my primary doctor this past Wednesday to get it confirmed using their urine test (OB/GYN won't see me until I've been pregnant 6 weeks).

My hubby and I are ecstatic but I'm trying to be cautious because I don't know how it will go.  One detail that's been consuming me is that I haven't experienced any MS at all so far.  I know we are still very early in our pregnancy but everywhere I read that MS is one of the most common symptoms and I haven't had it yet.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not wishing I was throwing up every day.  But, I'm worried that since I haven't had any MS,  it might be a sign that something's wrong. Do I have reason to worry or am I overthinking this?

Re: worried that there hasn't been any MS

  • Don't worry and be thankful!  It will come.  I didn't get nauseous, extremely tired, sore boobs and headaches until around 7 weeks.  Luckily it all went away around 11 weeks.  So, if it comes and then disappears, don't worry about that either. Just consider yourself one of the lucky ones! Congratulations by the way:)

  • I didn't have morning sickness my entire pregnancy with DD.  She's fine.
  • I had no morning sickness at all, it happens. Be thankful.
  • I didn't have any symptoms until about 6 weeks. I never got sick but I am nauseous 24/7. Be thankful you are sick yet.

  • Not everyone experiences morning sickness.  My mom and sister never did and I haven't so far either.  Most of the time I feel completely normal.
  • With this pregnancy, I did not get m/s until I was 8 weeks.  And some women get it even later, if at all.  Just be happy you don't have (hopefully not yet)
  • Please don't worry! Not everyone gets MS. I had virtually no MS in sense of nausea and vomiting. I did have occasional headaches and super fatigue around 6-9 weeks. I'm sure everything is going fine. :)

  • I didn't have one minute of MS with my son, born perfectly healthy April 2011. My mom never had any with either of her pregnancies either.

  • Don't worry about it. I haven't thrown up once this entire pregnancy (knock on wood), and only experienced mild nausea. And, given I'm expecting twins, everyone told me to expect the worst -- since there's apparently that much more of a hormonal overload going through my system. The only constant, debilitating symptom I've consistently experienced has been overwhelming fatigue -- which has started to lift, if ever so slightly!

Every pregnancy is different -- try not to over analyze.

  • I didnt get morning sickness until the start of my third trimester, lucky me! i posted the very same concern when I was first pregnant.  Dont worry, not everyone gets every symptom.

  • Almost 11w along for me, and still no real morning sickness. A couple of days here and there with some nausea, but no real sickness this time. Had it bad with my first, moderate with my second. Only half of women ever experience it, anyway. Nothing to worry about at all :)

  • Thank your OP for posting this! I just got my BFP Friday and I haven't really had anything except sore boobs and some cramping today and nasal congestion and am concerned as well. Especially after  I read something about Clear Blue digital giving false positives yesterday so I had to come home and take another test and it said Pregnant. Now I'm going to feel paranoid until I go to my OB in a month but I did get a line on the dollar store one so I'm still going with that too.
