DD can sense the crib from 6' away! She will be out cold and as soon as I even think of putting her down, she's awake. She's even slicker than DS was at this age (2 weeks old).
What are your tricks? I'll try anything short of a Benadryl IV.
We got a graco PNP with pop out cuddle cove. For the first 3 months, we put her in her halo swaddle and then put the cuddle cove in her crib and her inside the cuddle cove. She slept great in there and got used to her room and being "in" the crib but still nestled close.
Now that she's over 3 months, we bought the Magic Sleep Suit and got rid of the cuddle cove and the swaddle. We put her in the magic sleep suit and set her directly in her crib. The first night she slept 1045-5, woke to eat, back down 515-730. The second night she slept 11-630.
Until my LO was about 3 weeks I would fall asleep with him on the couch out of sheer exhaustion. Trying to put him in his crib was horrible. It didn't seem to matter how deep his sleep was, he just knew I was putting him in his crib. He does fine now though. I started putting him down for naps in the afternoon hoping he'd get used to it. At night I'd try and get him down early and he would go in his crib just like the afternoons, no problem. After a few days I guess maybe he got used to it because he would wake to nurse and immediately go back to sleep and in his crib. I also made sure I kept him wrapped in a blanket while I was holding him, and I would hold him sideways so when I did put him down, he was already warm and in a position to where I wouldn't have to move him much.
My little guy will take naps in his crib and will start out the night sleeping in it, but after he wakes up the first time (usually after 3-4 hours), he will only sleep again if we put him in his carrier which we then put in the crib. He has an issue with his spine, so I attribute that to his hatred of sleeping on his back for long hours though.
I rock and nurse, after changing diaper & I juts double swaddle. Once she's asleep in my arms I kind of walk to the crib & set her in and I let her wake a little so she gets used to this. I guess it will help once she starts to self soothe. I read it in parenting magazine & I know I could've used the advice with my first.

Starting at nap time is a good idea. I say this as she's napping on my chest while I bump. Oops.
