So the other day DH and I were driving home and mid sentence I had a shooting pain in my hooha.... it was like a pulsing stabbing pain that lasted like 3 minutes and all I could do was sit and try to breath and not freak out while DH laughed at my pain (sick F*cker I know) I had heard of it before described as lightning crotch and was just wondering if any of you ladies have experienced similar things?
A second more painful thing happened this morning (and a few times previously) before Im out of bed Ill turn over or stretch to get comfy and it feels like some one stabs me in the gut.... not the gut but where I think baby is... like where normal period cramps are. It was so painful this morning I couldnt even get back to sleep! Its 1 stab and then gone though.
There was no bleeding associated with either of these incidents (I guess im RH negative and bleeding would be super bad so I made sure there was none). I don't know if I should call doc or just let it be... this is my first pregnancy so all of this is new to me and Im not sure if its normal.... but if thats what it feels like when a baby moves I do not want to feel it again because it was not the flutter everyone keeps talking about!
Please advise
Thank you!
Re: Lightning crotch and other strange pains..... (maybe TMI)
Guess you get to laugh the next time he has some sort of testicle pains (look up testicular torsion & describe it to him ... see if he's still laughing at that point).
Yup, haven't had it last 3 mins; instead of stabbing, I'd describe it like the blow fish inflating because it's like there's this ring of area feeling it. Can only remember a few occurrences when I've been sitting in the car though.
Do you have "What to Expect when you're expecting" or the "Mayo Clinic's Guide to Pregnancy"? I found what to expect has a few spots about the random pains (where it describes locations & when to call the dr. Have found it helpful when I wonder about something).
I just started getting some sort of stabing like thing between the belly button and top of the pubic bone (about 2 or three fingers above), I think that was intestinal related since there was a bowel movement soon afterwards. Might be like what you experienced with stretching in the morning.
There is also a pain that occurs diagonally between the belly button and hip bone (usually right side) - typically when I stand up ... have been told that is ligaments holding the uterus stretching.
There are also other pains in the lower pelvis area/butt that I've been experience, helped to go back to my flat shoes & use a wedge pillow between my knees when on my side.
Can't tell you whether or not to call the dr - that's something you have to decide, however by calling in, you do get either action or piece of mind.
I know what you mean about not being sure what the "flutter" is - I've been starting to feel something different, but it could just be gas moving differently through the smushed intestines.....saw my dr this week (19 and 1 day) and she doesn't expect me to feel anything at this point.
This will be my first kiddo but technically 2nd pregnancy (was very early on m/c ... thought it was 6 or 8 weeks along when spotting & other symptoms intensified ... the cramps from that felt like when I get bad period cramps, had more spotting, chills, shivers, couldn't get warm unless sitting in warm bath tub water (middle of summer by the way) & the only way I'd feel mildly improved was if hubby sat and I sat in front of him getting a big bear hug of sorts. Never want that again. Wasn't until the 2nd or 3rd time I called the advice nurse, to define cramping, that I understood it wasn't "normal, being pregnant is uncomfortable and sucks" kind of thing. In her words, "If it's to the point you want to take something for it, then it's cramping" - that was her red flag to set up an appointment.
The gut pain is likely related to RLP, from your tummy muscles stretching to accommodate your growing uterus (and baby). I get these frequently, and they huuuuurt. If it was something sinister it would likely occur when you're just sitting still too, rather than only when you stretch.
As for the lightning crotch, that's normal too.. I've experienced it a few times and it's less than pleasant, to say the least!
I have not had a lightening crotch but it is normal.
The RLP I get all the time!! It feels like you're getting stabbed! Whenever I cough, sneeze, stand up to fast, stretch, roll over... it's wonderful!
Both unfortunately are normal and won't be going away anything soon! On occasion I would still get RLP after having DS no fun!
