I like the way these names sound, and Lynn is a family name, so it'd be great to find a way to use it. Yay or nay? Both are legitimate variants on Behind The Name, but do they look made up?
I think Lyndi looks made up, but I like Lindy. I wouldn't use it because it's just not our style, but I knew a Lindy in college and she was an awesome, fun-loving girl, so the name has that connotation to me.

If I were a Lindy and had a sibling named Emma June, I'd wonder why I got gypped in the name department and why my sister got a classic name that ages well and why I got stuck with an eternally youthful sounding name. Not a fan. Sorry. I do like Lynn.
I had a friend in college named Lynndee and I really liked her, but hated how it was spelled. Something that annoyed me, and her as well, is that every time she introduced herself or said her name, people thought she said "lindsay". She would have to correct people. Every. Single. Time.
This would really bug me. Lindsay screams 1980's to me.
My mother's middle name is Lyndon {family name} and we thought about it for a girl with the nn Lyndy. We didn't use it, but I like it. I give a lot of names a pass because they're family names though.
I like Lindy, especially because of the Lynn connection. I'm not crazy about Lyndi though. I wouldn't worry about it sounding too childish - I have a colleague named Lindy, but she goes by Dr. Lastname.
I'm not a big fan personally- I have known a couple girls named Lindy and I have nothing negative to say about them, but it just sounds a little cutesy or even trashy to me. What about Lynn for a middle name, or Lynette?
I do know a sibset named Libby and Emma, and I do think those are cute together and Libby is kind of similar to Lindy. Other names I like with Emma: Claire/Clara, Cora, Julia, Ava.
If you truly love Lindy though, use it! I don't think anyone IRL would ever tell you they don't like the name!
Re: WDYT of Lyndi or Lindy?
You aren't going to like this, but...my sister just named her dog Lindy. It's a cute name, but I did ask her if she made it up.
Re: a baby...it sounds very nicknamey to me and I'd worry about how it would age with the child. It's not terrible, though.

This. I thought it was a nn for Linda.

It's just okay to me. I'd also ask if it was for a boy or girl, DS has a friend named Lindy (boy).
As an '80s Lindsey I have gotten Lindy on a few occasions and I think a Lindy would get Lindsey most of the time b/c it's much more common.
Not a big fan.
