Baby Monitor

Hi Ladies!

I'm doing research on baby monitors and wanting to hear your thoughts and reviews! I've read recommendations for: Motorola, Samsung, iHealth/iBaby, or a Foscam. I even heard someone say they bought a security camera with visual and sound so they could use post-baby use either by their pool or front door or whatever. As with anything - especially electronic - my head is spinning with all the options! Your opinions on any of the above or otherwise is greatly appreciated!

I like to use Amazon for reviews. It seems the reviews on there are more to the point. I still use mine for DS, he will be 6 in October. It's Graco and has two monitors.

Don't know the brands, but a friend who had a preemie added on some sort of thing that went on the skin (lower back/under the diaper?) that monitored breathing movements - if no movement detected after so many seconds, it'd go off and alert the parents (think they had some sort of pager like device). That seemed to really set her mind at ease for the first number of months.

We have the Summer Infant Day/Night monitor and I love it. We have used it every day for 2 years and it is great.

I have the AngelCare one that has the movement monitor that goes under the mattress. I thought it would make me feel better, but it actually led to many unneeded nighttime freak outs. DS would scoot into the corners of his crib where it couldn't detect him and then the alarm would go off. We didn't use the movement sensor for very long. However, the sound quality on it is great and we have loved the monitor for just sound monitoring. We've been using it for almost 3 1/2 years.

With DS I had planned on getting a non-video monitor, but then we were given one unexpectedly, and was so glad for it in the long run! I plan to buy another one (ours finally failed after tons of use about a year ago). I had a Safety 1st, and loved it. My sister has a Summer Infant, and she loves hers as well. I haven't looked into them yet for this pregnancy, but when I do, I will refer to the most recent edition of Baby Bargains for recommendations.

And love it. We haven't had any issues with it, and it's a lot cheaper than camera ones. (if that's something you'll even consider).

I ditto what a pp said, I like checking amazon's reviews.

We have the Summer Infant slim and secure digital handheld color video monitor, and two cameras (bought our second camera off ebay, recently). I love it, use it every day, travel with it...it's great!!
