My almost 9 month old is still up every 3-4 hours crying. usually around the same time a night lately. I go and check on him, and the first time he awakens I will just nurse him a little because it helps him back to sleep, the second time which is usually around 5-6am I will change his diaper because by then its super full, and Ill nurse him a little again to get him back to sleep.
Its starting to take a toll on my own sleep habit and I am exhausted by the end of the afternoon!
Anyone else experience this or have any tricks they can suggest?
Re: Still not sleeping the whole night
I'd suggest letting him CIO, at least for the first wakening. That's the only thing that's working for us right now.
I'm hesitant to let her CIO when she wakes up between 5 and 6 because then she'll wake up for the day. If I feed her, she'll sleep anohter 1-2 hours usually. That will probably the be last feeding we wean her of.
CIO is SOO hard, but for older babies who have a habit of night wakenings, I really feel like this is the only thing that works.
This! We sleep trained but now that he takes a paci...IF he does wake, I pop paci in... hand him his "lovie" to hold, and he falls right back to sleep. Tome to sleep train, hard at first but he will catch on real fast!

thanks everyone! I hate letting him CIO, I haven't been able to do so yet. I'll lay there and listen to him to see if he's actually crying crying or if hes talking and whining. But even if he is just light whining, it usually turns into real crying, standing up in his crib and looking for one of us.
Ill try just giving him his paci instead of nursing him, I usually will rock him in my glider too which helps, but takes longer. If I just let him CIO, Ill be up all night anyway listening to it on the monitor :-(
What time do you put your LO down for bed at night? Its different every night for our son. Sometimes 9, 10pm...so when he wakes at 1 and 5, I suppose that is slightly normal, but I don't want to be getting up for the day at 5am! lol
