Knowing perfectly well that I don't have anything to complain about, I'm going to do it anyway.
Item #1: We live in a sweet rental house that includes yard work in the rent. Early this morning, I needed to get up to pee and had vague hopes of crawling back in bed afterwards. I let my 1 y.o. lab pup out into the back yard so we could both take care of business and settle back in for a lazy Saturday morning. The moment she stepped out the door her hackles raised and she started barking at the top of her lungs. The yard work guy was in our back yard pulling weeds at 6 AM on a Saturday!! So, I spent a while trying to herd my dog back inside and calm her down. Oh and did I mention, I was in my pjs and modesty is not my first priority in pj selection these days?? Awk-ward.
Item #2: DH's coworkers have just decided to throw us a shower... when I'm 37 weeks. (It is the day before classes start for them and the only time they could be certain everyone was in town.) I really wanted to get things settled and ready before then but I also want to leave some things on the registry for them. Now I'm going to be debating and second guessing how/when to use the completion coupon.
Item #3: Shortly after going public with our BFP, DH's cousin sent me a list of 10+ baby gear items that her LOs had outgrown and were ours for the taking. We finally were in town (we live out of state) and stopped by to catch up and pick up the "spoils" last week. They could only find 2 of the things from the list. (They moved to an apartment recently and have stuff stored in various basements of accommodating family members.) Still great that we don't have to buy those 2 items but I've turned down/passed over great offers on the "missing" gear because I thought I already "had" it.
BooHoo! Isn't my life rough?? How about you? What first world problems are you dealing with today?
Re: My First World Problems
#1 - Still unemployed. Fun times. No money, lots of free time. Those two things don't go well together in my book.
#2 - It's HOT!
#3 - DH wants to spend the day watching golf. I don't really want to hang out with any friends because honestly I don't like listening to their stuff right now. I know, it's sad.
That's about it. Going to go to the store and maybe play with the dogs in their baby pool. Thank goodness the world isn't ending today, because I would not want to go out this way!
I totally get you on the shower thing...mine is today, but the church we go to offered to throw us one when I am 37 weeks also. I don't plan on having things we still need on the registry at that point, so I told her to maybe do it children's book themed, so we can build up his library. She didn't sound thrilled at the idea, but I'm not waiting that long to get the rest of the things we need.
My dad bought us a brand new Britax double stroller and carset (he really wanted to, wouldn't take no for an answer). They just showed up at our door and at this exact moment I don't have room for them.
Also, the battery life on my iPad is going downhill fast. It doesn't even last eight hours now.
We may be related...I am in the same boat. I do get unemployment checks, but they are pretty much reserved for bills...it is too hot to go outside and clean out my truck or pull weeds so I am still sitting on the couch - in the same spot since last week. I also have not been in the mood to hang out with friends. My one dear friend is quite the Debbie Downer and it is getting hard listening to constant negativity right now...
But to cancel out all that griping, we are going on vacation next week back to my home in MI for my baby shower and to see family...and my birthday is Thursday. Super stoked!
I'd be pissed about anyone bothering me on a Saturday at 6am too. I'm pissed when DS does it!
I'm quite pissy about poking my finger 4 times a day. Sometimes I don't mind, but right now most of my fingers hurt and it just pisses me off.
Also, DH let me sleep in this morning (yay!) so I had breakfast much later than usual. My body is stupid and still knows when it is time for me to eat a snack and demands it(plus we went for a walk after breakfast, burning calories), but I had to wait 2 hours. H and S both got to eat snacks and I had to talk to H during that time so I had to watch them eating.
Then I went and laid in bed and read for a while, to keep my pouting self occupied. Finally eating greek yogurt and determined to be less pissy the rest of the day.
Whining about gadget/cell phone battery life or 3G speeds are the epitome of 1st world problems! I found myself muttering about both while on vacation last week. It's pretty funny when I remember back to how excited I was about "the brick" (my family's first cell phone that got shared amongst the 4 of us) when we first got it.
My face is also broken out.
MH is working nights this weekend, and I hate being home overnight with just the kids.
I have a family thing to go to today, and I don`t want to, but I have to. At least my mom will be there to help with my kids so I can sit and relax a bit.
I laughed on this one - we have to go to costco today and K-cups are on our order too!
My 1st world issues:
1. I hate the ugly bruise on my belly from insulin hitting a blood vessel.
2. The lawn care guys were at our townhouse complex and woke up DD with their weed eater. I could have used another 30 minutes of sleep.
Even though they showed online that they had them in store, neither Lowes nor Home Depot had the picture ledges/shelves I wanted for the nursery so I ran all around town and came home empty- handed and now have to order them and pay shipping.
I also had one yesterday. It was raining, and DS has been waking up before 6 a.m. (kill me) every day. So by 9 a.m. I'd already had it with typical 2.5 year old antics and told him we could go to the "Playhouse Cafe" (it's this awesome place - nice cafe/coffee shop for the moms, with supervised play areas for the kids. He was SO excited. We got all ready, even put on his raincoat at his insistence, got him into the car... and it wouldn't start. Awesome. He had an epic meltdown when I told him we couldn't go to the Playhouse (or anywhere) until the car was fixed.
Battery ended up being dead and we needed a new one... so overall it was not bad. Could have been something more expensive, OR could have died while I was stuck somewhere like the grocery store with DS or something.
What lancets are you using ?? I am using the One Touch Mini and the lancets that go with it and my fingers don't hurt at all ! I even generally test on the same finger each time.
My BIL told me he would paint our nursery today. He has a wedding to go to in the evening, but said he would do it in the morning. I didn't have a chance to touch base with him last night, so I just assumed he would be over around 9am. So I got up at 9 (usually sleep till 10) and waited. Finally texted my sister and she said he might be coming over later- he is out with some friends from the wedding since Friday night. She isn't sure when he will be back or if he will have time.
I'm mad because I really want to get this nursery set up and I can't until he paints!
My DH and I both suck at painting and he does it for his job and he offered to do it.
And now it's noon and I'm exhausted and ready for a nap!
What are K-cups?
1. I want to go shopping at the mall but feel too lazy to walk around. Maybe I can bust out my new double stroller and convince my DH to come and push me and DS1!
2. I went food shopping this morning and thought I had more milk than I do so I need to go back for that and like 3 more things. Ugh.
3. I'm too lazy to put on my bathing suit and go in the pool in the yard but I'm sure DS would love to do it.
MH is away this weekend and it's causing me all sorts of (1st world) problems.
1. I have to work alone
2. I have sourced a sweet CD score on Craigslist, but don't know when I'd be able to go pick them up (working and MH has car) and I am SO eager to start my stash!
3. I am that stereotypical horny pregnant woman these days and MH is not HERE.
Oh man! That is the worst!
#1 - My house is too big to clean, it's a pain in the butt...wahhh
#2 - My feet hurt after going on a hike at a near by nature preserve in the beautiful sunshine today..booowhooo

yup it's the worst. I finally gave in and phoned him to see if he ate it, but he claims he has no idea what I'm talking about. So apparently I'm really good at hiding things!
We always have an extra! And, I sometimes play jokes with DH. "Something is wrong with the volume on the TV, babe!" Fun times!
This is the WORST! Mine is similar. I have been to three different Rita's four times in the past 2 weeks and they never have lemon. The last time I went I had an epic, toddler-esque meltdown. DH was (rightfully) mortified.
I have a shower to go to tomorrow and the toenail on the toe I broke a few moths ago chose yesterday to fall off. So now I will have 9 nine polished toes and one that's neked.
I was trying to buy a gift for said shower and everything is either fulfilled, has to be shipped, or is more than I want to spend. Who the heck shops for a shower so early?! Darn overachievers.
This is a fun thread!
The same one! Even skipping around all my fingers they are just getting to the point of hurting. I'm doing the side of the finger thing, which is supposed to hurt less than the pads of the fingers.
My boss gave me a huge bag of very nice shoes for DS. He has two boys and it looks like most of the shoes were only worn once or twice, and they're all expensive brands. However, I don't feel like going through them and organizing them.
We have major organizing to do before we can move LO's crib into DS' room (they're going to share). Again, I don't feel like doing it!
A fish from our saltwater fish tank died. It was my favorite, saltwater fish aren't cheap, and now we have to replace it. Boo.
Try it on the pads/tip of the fingers. I found that it actually feels better for me on the tip of the finger than on the side. I think I hit a nerve or something on the side, 'cause I had one that ached for hours. Since switching, I haven't noticed it at all. I have a few tiny spots that still show on my fingers but no pain.
OMG the Rita's mention reminded me of another one:
I really, really want lemon Italian ice. I love just the cups--Luigi's preferably--that you can get in pretty much ANY pizzeria in NY or NJ, or in grocery stores, Cotsco, etc. But I cannot find them here in Canada.
I actually wrote to Luigi's customer service and now have a list of grocery stores to check out when MH returns with the car!
That's funny because I actually got a box of Luigi's at the grocery store to scratch the Rita's itch. It didn't work. Sometimes you just want what you want.
I got a new smartphone today and the case I ordered off amazon is going to take 5-6 days to get here. I'm hoping the estimate is off because that's really annoying and a long time to go with no case.
Also, the baby is kicking my laptop and making it jiggle so I am getting dizzy while typing/reading.
ETA: One more - we went to a Red Sox game last night and the overwhelming smell of beer was making me so nauseated. I was getting pissed at everyone around me drinking (including DH and his friend) but of course there was nothing I could do about it since EVERYONE around was drinking. I actually got into bed last night thinking how much of a FWP that was....nauseous from smelling beer at a baseball game while eating nachos and fried dough and I was pissed... Yup
When a place is out of something that I really really want...I always feel like it's a personal vendetta against me. Stupid, I know...
Our animals are shedding like crazy and the broom is no longer doing the trick. I got online today and found a super cheap stick vacuum that got great reviews for picking up pet hair. I checked the website and it said my local store had it... drove all the way to the store...didn't have it. I was PISSED. So, I had to drive all the way back home, go online and order the damn thing. I hope the shipping estimate is wrong, too. I don't want to wait an entire week for it to get here!!! (I'm obviously spoiled now with Amazon's free 2 day shipping.) lol
I redeemed my credit card rewards for a BRU gift certificate and it was shipped to an old address even though I updated it when I moved five years ago. I get my statements every month so no idea how that happened. They canceled the card and expedited a new one but I was hoping to pick up the new car seat this weekend. Lame.
My DVR is on the fritz and skipping some of the shows it is supposed to record and pausing randomly during the ones it did. My cable company is making me run in circles to replace the freaking thing even though I have a warranty.
The batteries is both key fobs to our main car decided to die this weekend. At the same time. Not a big deal except for the fact that it is a push-button keyless start and there is no way to manually turn the friggen thing on. Unless I'm being a total idiot, which is completely possible these days.
