Epsom salts

Is is safe to soak my feet in epsom salts?  nothing is helping the swelling.  My doctor did a u/s last week to check for a DVT and it came back clear.  Since then I have been careful to reduce salt, drink a ton of water and stay off my feet as much as possible.  Since my bp is good they aren't concerned.

    Epsom salt is fine. You won't absorb copious amounts by soaking your feet...

    I figured as much but when reading the directions, it said if you are pregnant or nursing, to contact your doctor before use, as everything does.  I hope it helps!  I haven't been able to wear anything but flip flops and my work is not to fond of them regardless.

    My midwife has me take an Epsom salt bath when my BP is borderline. It's fine :)

    I use them at least once a week, and it always feel amazing.  It's not salt, remember, but magnesium.  The warning labels are usually aimed at use as a laxative, not a soak.  I didn't realize this until I bought a package that actually had separate sets of instructions and warnings for soaking versus oral use.

    I took many epsom salt baths during my pregnancy.  I really helped my aching hips!

    I agree its safe - but I too have found it doesn't help my swelling - putting my feet up above my heart for 20 mins on (then stop for 20 or so mins) then back on again.  As well as wearing compression socks / hose is what I found works.

    Make sure you are drinking a lot of water - it flushes you out and reduces the swelling (though it seems like it would be worse)
