Is this tacky?

I have a handful of pictures of DS printed that didn't make it into his photo album or a frame. I am considering offering them up at his first birthday party to anyone wanting some. Is that too AW-y or tacky? I do have pictures to give out to grandparents of them with DS, but the pictures in question are of just DS.

Re: Is this tacky?

  • Use them as his Thank You cards for all the gifts he receives.

Mount them, and hand write the thank yous on the back.  Hand out the ones you can and mail the others.

  • I don't think it's tacky at all. People like receiving photos of babies IMO. For thank you cards we are sending them with wallet sized professional pics.

We already ordered Thank You's that match the invites. Also, I'm not sure there are enough for everybody.

  • I don't think it's tacky at all.  I know my family members and friends love receiving pictures of DD, as I'm sure most families and friends do.  :)

  • Ehhh.  I'm divided on this.  I wouldn't say tacky, per se, just maybe weird?  Weird may not be the word I'm looking for.  If you were just randomly handing out random photos of your kid, and I was your friend, I think I'd be internally thinking why am I getting a random picture for no reason, but on the other hand, if I was your friend, I'd still probably like having a cute pic.

This is where I am too. The party guests are basically DS's grandparents, aunts/uncles, and a handful of close friends. I have given our family pictures of him before. I've just never really set them out as "please take some pictures if you want". I will probably offer them up. I might just divide them up and hand them out in the stack of perosnalized pics I'm gonna give to the grandparents.

  • I don't think it is tacky. I would say something like "I accidently print too many of these pictures, if anyone wants them they can have them" and lay them out on the counter. Then its not like you are forcing your kid on them but just casually offering the extras. No pressure that way. :)

  • not tacky, but a little weird. i toss pictures (christmas cards, birth announcements, etc) after a few weeks, much less random photos of a friend's kid.

    Winner!

Just write the thank you note on the back of the picture and mail 'em if you can.

  • I wouldnt hand them out. What I would do is get a keepsake box and put them in there. Just because they didn't make the album or aren't framed doesn't mean you may not want them down the road.
