Switching to WCM

Just this week, we decided to switch to WCM a little early. We were nearly out of formula, and quite frankly...we didn't want to buy more. That stuff is EXPENSIVE! We decided to try the WCM. She likes it ok, but it takes her FOREVER to finish a bottle now. Is it just because she's adjusting to the cold? Do you warm up the milk before giving it to LO?  Did it take your LO a little bit to adjust to WCM?

Also, she seemed to have a little diahhrea (sp?) today. Not terribly so, just 3 poopy diapers. A lot for her (she poops once a day).  She's otherwise in good health. Now, I know this could just be a sign that she's preparing to cut another tooth (swallowing excessive amounts of drool, yum!).  But could this be her body adjusting to the WCM?

Re: Switching to WCM

  • I can't help on the bottle part. When I started WCM I did it in the sippy and started replacing bottles so it was entirely new all around. I just did one sippy a day until she got used to that and then moved onto the next. Try warming it, or buy a small can of formula and mix it half and half for awhile if you're really desperate.

As for the poop, we were just discussing this on another board. The WCM transition seems to mess up the poop one way or the other for a lot of kids. If LO is otherwise acting fine/it's not overly bothering her I'd give it some time and not worry about it.

  • We are in the process of switching our 11.5 month old DD to milk.  She is on 50/50 formula/WCM bottles at the moment.  We are definitely noticing more frequent, runnier poops for the past week or so.  Same as PP, I've heard the milk transition will mess it up in one direction or the other.  My friend's little boy got really horribly constipated.  My DD seems fine otherwise, so we're just sticking with it until she adjusts.
