They forgot Myle's birthday, so I could call them alot of things. Normally it would be their first name tho
Don't worry my MIL got Nick a gift and said it's really for Timmy though.... I was like ummm ok?
Why bother getting him a gift at all then lol
Thats crazy! Myles's birthday party is Sunday, will see if they even remember to show up.
Nick's is tomorrow!
I have a lot of things about MIL too. They saw Timmy a handful of times when during his first year of life.... keep in mind they live a whole 40 minutes away.

We must be talking about the same person lol because they've only seen Myles a handful of times too and we live about 5 houses down from them. But if the roles were reversed all hell would break loose if someone forgot anything that pertained to them.

Yea my husband wanted to live that close to his parents and I put the stop on that there was no way in hell I was living in the same zip code as my MIL.
But yup she does the guilt trip thing. When Tim was in the was close to being admitted to the hospital last year for being sick, she wrote me a nasty email saying she emailed me the other day asking how Timmy and I never responded, not every one uses FB and she was sure my parents knew what was going on with Tim.....
Well they have this new invention called a telephone...pick it up and call

George and Linda but recently mom and dad. I wasn't sure but James said that MIL would really appreciate it so I started and now I do all the time. Seems to come easier to call MIL mom that to call FIL dad. Not sure why.
I call my FIL "Pops" because thats what DH and all the kids call him. His wife and my MIL it's first names. Can you guess who of the 3 is my favorite? lol

I call them Mr. and Mrs. B. When MIL calls though she always says it's Cindy, but now since Auden is here I just call her Cici, which is what the grandbabies call her.
They always refer to themselves to me as their first names, but I just can't do it. I refer to them as their first names, but I don't actually call them anything because I feel so awkward calling them by their FNs, but don't know what else to call them.
They refer to themselves by their first names to me (as in signing cards to DH and I "Love Mom and Dad" then under it "Love Tom and Margaret" - weird).
I call FIL "Big Tom" or "Tom the first" since DH and my son are named after him. I think he likes being called "Big Tom."
I call MIL "Mother Hyland" because DH's sister's husband started calling her that a few years ago as a joke and it just stuck. I think she thinks that it is out of respect, but we are actually mocking her. Oh well, whatever works.
I could never call them mom and dad, I already have a mom and dad and it's not them. I have heard another one of DH's sisters' husbands call them mom and dad and it just weird.

First names and/or Nana & Pops. MIL asked me to call her mom once we got engaged, but like PP, I have a mom & dad and it's really a name you have to earn. You can't really pick it up if you didn't know me until my 20s.
They really are wonderful people, and they're very generous to us and DD. but speaking of weird gifts... They always buy her stuff that's really age-inappropriate. For example, for her birthday they got her a pair of size 8.5 cowboy boots. She wears a size 3. And this tote bag with a bunch of little slots with crayons (regular little ones, not even the chunky toddler crayons) in them. I have a feeling MIL bought the 2T outfit that DH's gma gave her too. They're nice gifts, but it's kinda weird to have to put something brand new in the attic.

I call them Oma and Opa generally (German for grandma and grandpa) becaues I don't have a great relationship with them right now and it helps me remember to treat them with respect since they are so important to my child.
Oh my, I am so glad for DD, because she has solved this problem for me.
After my wedding MIL told me I could call her by her name or by mom, which ever I felt more comfortable with. I told her she was my mom too now, so of course I would call her mom. I saw how happy that made her!
It feels so weird though calling her that. When I put on her shoes I would want DD's husband to call me mom, etc, so I want to call my MIL mom.... I just have the hardest time doing it. Mom is my mother. So, with DD now I can just call her Nana... Problem solved! She's Nana and my mom is grandma or mom.

Re: What do you call your Inlaws
Batshitcrazy...
they addressed me as their daughter in a card and I about threw up in my mouth.
I don't think I've ever addressed them to their face where I had to call their attention.

I call them by their first names.
They live in my backyard and I work with them everyday. We have to get along.
However, they really are great people! I got lucky I know and have no complaints about them.
