December 2012 Moms

Question for third time (or more) moms:

Hi there ladies-- Quick question for you-- I'm almost 20 weeks with my third child and just wondered how you all were feeling? Granted I only had 6 months in between giving birth to my second child and being pregnant again, so I am wondering if that's contributing to what I've been feeling lately? Believe me, I'm thrilled to be pregnant again, but just experiencing a TON of aches, pains, back aches, some Braxton Hicks started recently, etc.  Is this pretty normal for a third pregnancy? How are you feeling? TIA

Re: Question for third time (or more) moms:

  • My third pregnancy was hell. I didn't have the pain I had with #2, but it was just a lot more of everything. I just kind of felt like my body was really not okay with it. I think it was just from the extra physical/emotional stress of having two kids already. BH did start much earlier for me, but it felt like 3rd tri was actually the time of my pregnancy when I felt best. I think summer is just a terrible time to be pregnant, honestly. I know I'll be feeling ten times better once the weather cools down a little. Being able to enjoy the fresh air really, really helps me when I'm just too pregnant to do anything.

This is #4 & 5 for us, and so far it's totally kicking my butt, but I'm told that twin pregnancies are just rough all around anyway. It seems to motivate me a little more, carrying two, rather than the "same old" carrying one business, if that makes sense.

I'm told that all pregnancies past two just get a little harder each time. Your body can only do this so many times without major complaining! I'm pretty sure that if we end up with #6 and beyond I'll just be passed out the entire time.

  • I only had 4&1/2 mos. between giving birth to my son and getting pg again so I hear ya. I will say that I've had more complications this time. More cramping, backaches, RLP etc. I was having issues w/ PTL and am now on p17 shots, procardia & bed rest. I'm feeling better now. I wonder if the stress of having a 2 yo, being pregnant & working full time at night was just too much for my body to handle last time? I really think the extra sleep and rest I'm getting is doing me good.

One thing I have noticed is way more vaginal pressure. The Dr. says it's pretty normal in 2nd & 3rd pregnancies. I'm also 35 now. I know that old age doesn't set it overnight but now I get why it's easier to have a baby at 25!

  • I think each pregnancy, is progressively more tiring with more aches and pains - you're caring for more people. My ute gets more active earlier each time too. With # 4 and #5 I had about 3 weeks of off and on false labor (not BH) before they finally came. I've been having BH already, and for several weeks I've been getting that really tight belly any time I walk/exercise/push a grocery cart.

  • I just find myself getting winded faster, more tired, and overall a little more crabby than I usually am. I'm a SAHM, DH is gone until 7:30-8 every night, so it's been some long days, especially those super hot ones. I won't lie, it's kicking my butt!
