Also, how close will b-day party be to actual b-day?

DS2's birthday is 10/10, a Wednesday.  We can't have his party the weekend before because SIL and her family will be OOT for a wedding.  The weekend after is my fall break and DH and I really want to have a little getaway to Chicago.  Two weekends after is really close to our niece's birthday, so I assume her party will be then.  So I'm left with 9/29 or 10/27.  WWYD?  How close will your LO's party be to his/her actual birthday?

    The birthday is Oct. 2, the party is the 6th.

    But if I were you, I'd do the 27th.  The party doesn't really need to be ON the day or the same week.  It's a celebration of being 1!  He's going to be 1 for a whole year!

    Probably the weekend before her birthday (10/31) because my nephew's birthday is on November 2nd and my SIL usually does his birthday party the weekend after.
    After 2 years of TTC, our daughter was born on Oct 31, 2011!

    LO's birthday is on a weekend, so it will be the day of unless it doesn't work for people. We just do family parties at this age, so it will be us, the grandparents, great grandparents, and aunts and uncles (well, probably only 2 sets of aunts and uncles would reasonably be able to make it), so we will accommodate to the schedules of at least grandparents and great grandparents as much as possible. If that means having to be a day off, or even a weekend before or after, so be it. I would rather have the main people in his life be there than have it be on the closest date to his actual birthday. At this age, they won't realize if it's not even close to their actual birthday, much less care, so do whatever works.

    yeah, that's pretty much what I'm thinking... we can't have it without SIL (DS's aunt) and her family there -- her 2 girls are his only cousins!  ;)

    CK's birthday is also 10/10, and we're doing our party in 10/13. If I were you, I'd probably do the party on the later date, but I'm weird about celebrating before things actually occur.

    DD's Bday is also on 10/10. I think we are going to have to do the party over Columbus Day weekend, because we have weddings on the 13th and the 20th.

    I think we're going to do the weekend before.  The weekend after is closer to her birthday, but two of our best friends are renewing their vows in Maui that weekend and a bunch of our friends are going, so we're doing it early.  So sad we're not going to Maui. Crying

    L's bday is Nov. 1st and we will most likely have it the following Sunday.

    If I were you, I would still plan the party for the later date :-)
