Started in FFFC, but more of a vent?

I don't mind when people ask how things are going with my pregnancy as part of normal conversation, but ROUTINE and CONSTANT checkups are prying and invasive.

1.  I have a 22yo male client who calls 4-5 times a week and says, "Well first of all, how are you feeling?  How is the baby?"  Every.  Single.  Call.  It seems like an invasion of my privacy because I don't even know him and he only knows I'm pregnant because a coworker told him!  I was out sick for two days one week and he actually asked the receptionist, "Oh no!  Is the baby okay?"  OMG.  Indifferent

2.  I have a few pregnant friends, and one of them knows more about my pregnancy than I do.  Every appointment, I'll get a text as I'm leaving my appointment that says, "how did it go?"  I look around to see if I'm being followed, ha.  I barely remembered to even go to my own fckg appointment, so how did she remember the day and time from four weeks ago when she nonchalantly asked when my next appointment was?  GRRRRRRRR.  Last time she asked when my appointment is, I purposely told her two weeks but that I didn't remember when.  Wednesday text: "appointment today?"  Me:  "Nope."  Thursday text:  "appointment today?"  Me:  "Nope."  Her:  "Well it's been 16 days since your last.  When is it?"  Indifferent

I ignored her constant calls and texts for 2 weeks when I was having complications.  I was so sad and scared, and I didn't want to Fkng talk about it.  Why does she feel so entitled to know everything that is going on with me?  Shiit!  I have no doubt she's been on TB's Sept board to see if she can figure out which SN I am.  I bet she has, and I bet she'll read this.  She's been a good friend for a number of years, but she is WAY too up in my shiit about this pregnancy.

She texted me last night and said, "Only 9 weeks left for you!" and I thought:  HAHAHAH BETCH!  FINALLY she lost track!  I only have 8!  Then I looked at my ticker on here.  Yep, I have 9.  Fcuk fcuk fcuk I can't take it.

I would tell the client that it is really non of his business how your or your babies health is if it is stressing/bothering you that much.  If it doesn't have anything to do with the business between you and him then it really is non of his business.

I can barely remember my appointments too!!  I have a friend who already has one and thinks she knows everything about being prego; unfortunately she was starting to do what your friend does and I ended up cutting her out of a huge part of my life for the time being because of the stress she was putting on me.

     Good Luck!!

    lol

And I thought the people who always ask me about the pregnancy were annoying.  But nope, your friend takes the cake, Once your LO arrives I bet she will wish him/her happy birthday each and every month too.

This, EXACTLY.  I almost shoved the, "What to Expect When Expecting" book up her a$$ within the first week of her finding out she was pregnant.  It's so stupid that one person can stress you out so much, but I just want to enjoy (er... get through) this pregnancy.  I want the weeks to fly by, not drag on.

  • Everyone loves a pregnant chick. I know it's annoying to keep answering the same questions, but I'd rather have people be excited about my pregnancy than to not care. I agree that some people should express said enthusiasm differently, but at the end of the day it's just their way of showing that they care about you and the baby.

I actually agree with you 100%, even with the very creepy male client, BUT.... not with the friend.  She's more interested in comparing herself with me, and trust me, her prying questions are not out of concern for me.

I'm looking at old texts and cracking up!!!!!!

Her:  How much weight have you gained?
    Me:  14 lbs (@ 22w).
Her:  Oh my god!  Did you get in trouble with the doctor?  I've only gained 8 (@ 14w) since I've been so sick.  Do you think you have GD?

    Me (@22w) I think I found a crib I like.
Her:  You shouldn't buy anything until you're past 26 weeks in case anything happens to the baby.  After 26 weeks the baby has a better chance of surviving.
**Fast forward:  she had her nursery 100% completed at 20 weeks.

I did my 2h GD test at 8am.
Her @ 10am:  How did it go?  Did you pass?
Me:  I won't know until next week.
Her Monday 9am:  What did you hear?
Me:  They said no news is good news, so I guess I'm okay.
    Her:  Well you should call.
Me:  Doc said not to call.
Her:  Well maybe your results aren't in yet.  They say if you gain a lot of weight you probably have GDIndifferent
    **Did I mention that she weighs ~300lbs?  And she's gained 34 @ 23w and I'm up 23 @ 31w?  Ummmm..... I just don't get it.  It's like she's rooting for me to have GD.

  • Yikes!  That's a little much!   As for the client, I'd politely explain that I'm only sharing pregnancy progress with close friends and family but I appreciate the concern.  As for your friend, if you're that close, I'm sure you can just tell her to back off and that you'll let her know what's up at your own pace.  Or you can always ignore texts and get the glazed over look when you're talking to her.

  • wow you have some phycho people in your life, sorry!

I know you were just venting & not asking for advice, but I would be straightforward with these people in saying, "Hey, I appreciate that you are so interested in my pregnancy, but sometimes I just don't feel like talking about it that much."

Especially with the male co-worker, I would just tell him to please stop asking & that you will let him know when anything news-worthy happens.

  • I read on TB somewhere about it feeling like a "mompetition" and I think it's true.  My friend was actually indignant that I passed my 1 hour GD when she had failed both of hers.

You know, because I'm fat and she's skinny...
