sleeping with a sleep sack

Just curious - who's still using a sleep sack? And is your baby walking?

We were using the sleep sack until a few nights ago, then DD fell in her crib and hit her face on the rail because she was playing/running and tripped. Looks like they have a sleep sack for walkers, so I am debating about buying those, or just switch to a blanket?

  • oh nooo! :( poor babe.. hope she is okay!

We still use a sleepsack. I can't imagine not, for some weird reason haha.

DD isn't walking but does cruise all along the crib and is days away from taking steps (I think?) -- we will switch to blanket soon I think.. although I'm a huge fan of sleepsacks, I think we're almost at the end :(

Poor baby! Well, we just in the past 2 weeks have stopped using them for naps and let me tell you, her naps have deteriorated big time. I don't know if the sleep sack was a little more confining and promoted sleep time or what. I think they've become like a lovie or something for her. We're going to have to make the switch at night soon because she's honestly too long for the XL ones (her feet touch the bottom). Oh and she's not walking.

  • We still use a sleep sack with DS and he's walking.  We've been fortunate enough not to have an issue with him falling in the crib.
  • We still use one at night, and she's always been able to crawl/cruise/walk in it.  I can't imagine the day when she finally grows out of it because she absolutely won't use a regular blanket.  I try to give her blankets during naps, and she just throws them out of the crib.

We have been using blankets for a while. Hannah has no problems with it.

  • We still do.  We don't have a walker yet just a stander, but I can see us still using it when she's walking.  One of my friends was still using one with her 3 year old because he preferred it to a blanket -- and he preferred the sack version, not the type for walkers.

  • DD's room it too warm for them now (no AC here) so they've been put away. When it cools down I think I'll switch to a blanket when it gets cool enough.

  • If I remember correctly, we were done with sleep sacks before she was even six months old because she was getting pissed it restricted her movement so much.

We're still using one and probably will for awhile.  DD moves around so much during the night that she wouldn't stay covered and DH keeps our house pretty cool so I don't want her getting cold.

She does walk around in it and for the most part does pretty well.  The other night we also have an incident where she was trying to "scurry" away from me and ended up tripping and hitting her head on the crib railings.  This will not deter us from using it.

  • C hated the sleep sack.  I cover him with a blanket now, but only after he goes to sleep.  If I give him a blanket when I put him down, he snuggles it and doesn't use it as a cover.

  • oh wow...i cannot imagine still using one! Lexi wakes up and plays in her crib for an hour or so in the morning. if she didn't have full range of motion she would be a mad little girl!

We didn't use a sleep sack either. I'm SO glad we never bought them. DS wouldn't even let us swaddle him.

  • We stopped using one just about a month ago.  He still wanted it to snuggle with so for a couple of weeks we left it in his crib with him.  Then it seemed not to matter so I took it out and he's been fine since.  He's been walking since May.  He still falls and smashes his face out of the sleep sack.  He kind of throws himself around anyway though.

  • We still use them for her nap and bedtime. She's been walking for 2 weeks and it doesn't seem to hinder her at all. She does not spend more than a few minutes in her crib while she's awake though....doesn't tolerate it! We keep the temperature cool inside (I can't sleep when it's hot), so I like to know that she's not cold while she's trying to sleep. There is no way she'd keep a blanket on right now. If I had problems with the sleep sack, I'd just buy one of the toddler kind with the foot holes.

  • I loved the sleep sack! Luckily, the weather started getting warmer around the same time DD became more mobile. We stopped using one around March, maybe? I think in the fall we will either buy one of the sleep sacks with feet or use a blanket. Although, I can't really imagine a blanket being very effective and staying on.

  • We never used a sleep sack...Brennan sweated through everything!  We tried it when we got home from the hospital, and he hated it.  I bought one of the fleece ones 'just in case' for winter if the power went out.  It's still in the bag downstairs!

We still don't use any blankets in the crib - not for awhile.  He flips around and cuddles into his lovies, but there's no way I'd trust a bigger blanket yet.  We just dress him in pjs according to the weather - fleece in winter, cotton in summer.

  • We just bought the larges, I feel like he needs his feet covered, even in summer, and he won't use a blanket. He's walking, but he usually just stands up and waits for us to come get him in the morning.

  • We tried to stop but she doesn't sleep well without it. I will have her in one until after winter. My MIL is knitting her a wool one.
