November 2011 Moms

Sigh.

I'm home with DS today.  We both have pink eye.  This sucks.  These stupid illnesses are really my least favorite part of being a parent.

Re: Sigh.

  • I'm sorry pink eye is no fun!  I hope you guys get better soon.  And being sick is definitely the worst part!  I feel like a walking petridish lately, I caught a cold from DD, she coughed approx. 5 times and had a runny nose, and I feel like the living dead!!  Guess it's better that I'm really sick over her.

  • Ugh I am sorry to hear that! DH doesn't seem to understand this concept. We went to a BBQ this weekend and someone there who was just starting to get over pink eye was there. I gave DH the stink eye numerous times for allowing LO near her. He was like "ur ridiculous". Fine. You take care of LO when he gets it. Have fun
  • That sucks. And it does always seem to be all at the same time, although at least with something like pink eye it's better that way. Have you ever tried colloidal silver water for it? I've always had much better luck with that than what the dr prescribes.

I've never even heard of that.  I'm pretty sure DD was starting to get it earlier this week and that's probably where DS and I got it, but I nipped it in the bud with breastmilk and she never had more than just crusty eyes.  DH thinks that if I put breastmilk in DS's eyes it will traumatize him for life, so I took him to urgent care this morning.  I still haven't decided if I'm treating myself with drops or breastmilk

It is one of the ones that you would want to do your research on. Silver has been used as a disinfectant and such for centuries, But currently the FDA despises it because if you ingest too much silver it can be harmful.

  • I got pink eye from the back end of a cold and thankfully LO and DH didn't catch it. This sounds gross but I put a drop of BM in my eye and it actually cleared it up.

  • Sucky.  That is probably the one virus we haven't had yet.  I hate when we're sick at the same time as the girls.  It is so hard to take care of them when you feel crappy too.  Hope you all feel better soon.

  • I'm so curious about the breastmilk and pinkeye thing... If you do it, let me know what happens :-o

  • DD had crusties when she was just a couple weeks old.  Seriously, BM worked like a charm.  Idk why, but I give myself the side-eye a bit when I think about putting it in my own eye if the situation called for it.  But, it's just the taboo part of BM; I still haven't tried a taste.  Gotta embrace the magic of that stuff, though!

Holy crap! I never knew you could that!! My 5YO had it when LO was 2mo. Had I known about the BM thing, I might have done it to DD. We are a walking miracle of nature, aren't we?

I'm sorry you both have pink eye. That does suck! Hope you both feel better soon!!
