September 2012 Moms

Baby still feet first.

Went for my growth scan today. They told me she is 3lbs 12 oz and that I was correct she is still sitting on my cervix with her feet off to my left. Every scan I have had that is how she is sitting. She seems to be quite comfy there I hope she decided to move in to position. The dr said that they want to start discussing the possibility  of C-section at my next appointment if she didn't move.

They also said I have to start going every 2 weeks for stress tests. My job is going to freak when they look at my time requests. My calendar looks like swiss cheese.

    I'm sorry :(

Maybe I'm just naive, but isn't it a little early to be talking about a C-section due to position?  My midwife said not to even think about it until 34 weeks, and even then she said many babies flip a week or two before labor.  She also told me that there are many ways to help baby move into the correct position, and said that it is extremely rare for them to have to send a mom away to the hospital for a C/S due to position.

It's probably good that your doc is preparing you early though, just in case,

That's what I thought too. They said they just want to talk about it being a possibility. I guess to fully prepare me just in case. I'm still hoping she turns on her own though.

They may also want to talk about it too because I am high risk with gestational diabetes and high blood pressure.

  • As far as the breech aspect goes, go to spinningbabies.org, try chiropractic and acupuncture....lots of ways (including just positions to do at home) to get baby to turn. It is way too early to be talking c-section just for that.

I would definitely research ways to get baby into position, I know there are yoga poses that supposedly help with it, and I'm seeing a Chiropractor as well.  Good luck!

Thanks ladies. I totally don't want to be cut open if I don't have to be, but only time will tell. The dr that told me that he wanted to talk about it is an older male and may just be cut happy. I will be seeing a different dr in the practice at my next appointment. Luckily there are 7 different doctors most of them are women so I'm sure most of them will do what they can to help me get her into position and not just want to cut me open.

I agree, try some of these first!

My LO is finally in position after I worried he would never turn!  DH used a rebozo technique we learned in hypnobirthing class and I felt him move after the first time.  I continued to do cat/cow yoga poses and the inversion from spinning babies a few times since to make sure he didn't flip back right away.  I've also been attending a prenantal yoga class once a week.  I can't say for sure that LO wasn't just ready to turn but I was ready to try anything!  It is amazing how much more comfortable I have been now that he is in the right position!  Good luck!

  • My little guy is sideways now. I go for a growth u/s Tuesday so I'll see if this is still the case then. My dr. has been mentioning my RCS for a while now and I keep ignoring her because I have hopes that he'll flip!
  • My little girl is breech still too. My ob isn't worried about it yet and neither am I.

  • Tell her its not a water slide. But seriously... you've got plenty of time left for her to turn. DD was flipping around well after 32 weeks

  • As other posters said, you still have plenty of time. My LO was breech at 30 weeks and at my 32 week appointment he was head down. Hopefully she will turn for you. I recommend taking a look at spinning babies website and exploring options, too. I did a lot more walking the past two weeks and I think that helped, but he could have just waited until he was ready.
