How many children are you planning to have?  Why?

We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet we forget that he is someone today.  ~Stacia Tauscher

Re: **Central PA Mommies Check-In**

  • Our initial plan was two.  Since we had Sophia, we're not sure about the second one.   There are days when I definitely want another one and then days when I don't think I do.  DH told me tonight that he is afraid if we have two, he won't be able to give them each equal attention...I told him that it probably comes naturally.

  • We are only having the one.  Gunnar was such a miracle after 2 m/c that I don't want to tempt fate again.  Also, my body did not handle being pregnant and 39, I could not imagine being pregnant and 40.

  • We go back and forth.  There are some days where we want another and other days where we are happy with one so we can enjoy doing things and providing for her the best we can.  We definitly cant have another one until we have a house since our apartment is just a two bedroom.  So we are definitly unsure about how many we want to have!
  • We always wanted two...so after this one we will be done.  I am having my tubes tied during my c-section to make sure of that! Big Smile
  • We aren't sure yet.  DH is a middle child, and he has great sympathy to any "middle child" so he says we're having either 1, or an even number.  I can't see myself having 4 kids, so it will either be 1 or 2.

I too worry about sharing attention equally with more than one child.  But I also think it would be nice for her to have a sibling.  I think we'll wait until we get through the first year and then think about it more seriously.

  • We are planning on having 3-4 children! ?I know, I'm nuts! ?We both come from bigger famillies, I have two sisters, and he has 4 sisters. ?So we want to have a big family as well. I love Elijah so much that I have no idea how I will love another one as much, but my mom said its possible! ?I can't wait!
  • We haven't put a specific number out there.  I would think anywhere from 2-4.  My pregnancy/delivery with Addy was a little scary, so I guess we'll see how the next one goes. We will also have them close together, b/c i am not getting any younger! Surprise
  • I've always wanted 2 and DH has always wanted 1. I want the traditional 1 boy, 1 girl family, so I guess my hopes are pretty set. Andrew is such a joy and has been such an easy baby from the start, that he makes wanting a 2nd so appealing. If we do have #2, it will be within the next few years because we definitely don't want them to be too far apart age-wise.
  • I always wanted 2 or 3 and DH said he wanted 1.... ha ha I guess I got my way.  Now that we have the twins I do not think that I want anymore... maybe it is the phase that we are in right now but I don't think I can handle any more.  Plus the fact that if you have twins once there is an increased chance of having them again.... oh goodness, I don't think I could handle another twin pregnancy with already having one set.
  • Right now, we would love to have 3 or 4 kids.  We are already expecting #2 in March, so we will see how things go before we start talking about the #3!
  • We are planning on 3, maybe 4 - depending on how things go.  I'm an only child and always wished I had brothers and sisters, and DH has two brothers so he definitely wants a big family.

  • I always wanted at least 2 possibly 3 kids.  I must say I love my boys but I would like to try for a girl.  But given that would most likely mean fertility treatments again, I'm not so sure we'll be having a 3rd as DH doesn't want to go fertility route again.

  • Possibly 3 or 4. We will probably wait a little bit, though, and adopt a few years after this baby is born. We've always wanted to and now that I'm still sick again with this pregnancy, it's definitely made me not want to be pregnant agian any time soon.

My DH is the same way although he's not a middle child himself.  When I was pregnant, he admitted that he wanted 4 children.  I finally got on board with that, and now that we have Caleb he's backing down to only wanting 2.  I think once we're out of the newborn/infant stage he'll change his tune again.  So basically at this point we'd either like 2 or 4.

  • I'd love 3, but Dh says we are done with the two we have.  I only have one sibling and growing up, I thought it was a bit boring, especially since I just had a brother.  Plus, I love the chaos of bigger families, and have this vision of huge family functions when I'm older.  My mom has 9 brothers and sisters, so holidays were always so much fun with my 40+ cousins there.  I'd just like a little bit of that with my own family.  We'll see if I can convince Dh in another year or two.
  • We'd like at least 3 but I definetly want to wait a little longer until we try for baby number 3.  It's really hard running after a toddler and being pregnant.
  • I don't know.  i can't imagine taking care of more than one at this point.  however, i am one of 3 and dh is one of 10 (!) so it is important to us to have siblings for dd.  maybe 2 or 3, but i"m also not getting any younger!
