Crib transition night #1...

Went MUCH better than expected!! I'm pleasantly surprised for now!

DD has been sleeping in her nursery, in a cuddle cove we place inside her crib (swaddled in a sleep sack). It nestles and vibrates her. The MAX time we could get her to sleep flat in her crib recently was 15 min at one nap time. DH swears that once, in the first few weeks of her life, she slept for 45 min in the crib, but I don't even remember that.

We kept her whole routine, but used the Magic Sleep Suit instead of a swaddle, and put her in the crib. She fussed a bit more than usual to actually fall asleep, but once she was down, she was peaceful as could be.

Her 'typical' sleep in her cove for the last few months has been: bed between 10-1030. Wake at 2-3 for a 15 min feed, back down til 5. Wake for 15 min feed. Sleep until 7-8.

Last nights crib sleep with Magic Sleep Suit: down at 1045. Slept til 5am. 15 min feed. Back in crib. Slept until 730!

We are thrilled with it! Hopefully it wasn't a fluke and will keep the transition going smoothly.

Now, I will say that the suit is challenging to BF in. I'm not sure if that's just bc I always nurse side-lying (broke my tailbone in labor and it's still very painful). We took her out of the suit for her 5am feeding and just put her back in when she was done, so it worked out fine. :)

  • Wow, that sounds like it went great!!  Congrats.  I'm intrigued by this cuddle cove, what kind of contraption is this?!  Is a Magic Sleep Suit like a sleepsack?  Can she move her arms about?

That is the PNP with cuddle cove! Ours has no canopy thing on it, though. It has been a gift from the heavens.

    Heres the Magic Sleep Suit:

Someone else on our board tried it and recommended! I forget who it was right now... But it worked great and she can move her arms and legs.  It's thick, like a giant snowsuit so it muffled her movements. (however, M didbt wake up hot at all)

Sorry links aren't clicky; on my phone :)

  • Forgot to say that the cuddle cove pops right out of the PNP so you can move it around and take it wherever :)

  • We loved the cuddle cove , too!  DS slept in it for the first month and a half.  We realized he was interested in sleeping flat in his PNP the first night home.

  • Yay Mila! I'm so glad to hear how well she did!! Makes me feel encouraged and I definitely think I'll get the magic sleep suit. We have been on a very similar sleep/eat schedule and I'm dying for more sleep!

I'm sorry--this isn't the point of your post--but OUCH!  I didn't know that could happen, and it scares me for LO #2!  I'm sorry it happened to you.

Aw, thanks!  I heard it when it occured but didn't realize what I did.  There was so much else going on at the time that I didn't necessarily feel it until a few hours later.

FWIW, I have heard that bruising them is much more common and hurts much much less.  THey said it would take 8 weeks - a year to heal.  I'm obviously beyond the 8 week mark, but crossing fingers that it won't be a full year!
