Babysitter decided to sleep train

Santino has been sleeping terribly at night lately. My Aunt who watches him during the day has been putting him down for naps in her bed while laying next to him. I asked her to please put him in a pack n play which she started today.  She said she just decided to sleep train him now since she is switching it up on him. So it's taken him an hour to fall asleep each nap. I wish i would have known earlier about the way she was getting him to nap. I'm going to get her a book to read because i have no idea what her method is until i pick him up today. Sorry for ranting, i just need to vent!!!

My question is- should i start sleep training him tonight since my Aunt started with naps today? I thought it was suppose to be the other way around, i don't want to confuse him.

Any other working moms have to have day care or nanny help with sleep training?

    I wish I babysitter would do a little sleep training at times.  It would be nice to know he lays down for naps at _ time.  Not just whenever he seems tired.  But this is nice when we are out on the weekends.

    My sister sleep trained my kid.. LOL.

    She was getting to the point where she fought to be rocked every.single.time. I had tried to let her CIO a few times, but it never worked. I assumed she was just not ready. It took a while for P to warm up to my sister. We joke that it was more of a "I will just go to sleep so she goes away", vs sleep training. 

    We got lucky.. it took two days of fussing for 10-15 min. Now she knows bed = sleep. Takes maybe 5 min of chatting and she is out like a light.

    I would lose my sh*t if I found out our daycare was letting my kid cry in a crib.  They're a large center (infant - preK), I pay a shitton of money, and they rock him and lay down next to him on a floor bed (foam pad on the floor) for naps...just like I do at home, except with them he gets a pacifier and with me, he nurses.

    That's great if you want your caregiver to help out, and great if it works!  I would not be okay with it for my son and my caregiver though.

    I don't have any tips, but I have to agree with others that I feel that it is really inappropriate for a childcare provider- whether it is a nanny, family member, or a large scale DCP - to take that kind of action without instruction from the parent.  For example, DH and I do not want to do CIO, and I'd be wildly upset if I found out that our childcare provider was doing it without our consent.   

    My only advice is that I wouldn't venture into making any serious changes until you have a chance to do some research of your own and decide what method you want her to do, based on your level of comfort with the various sleep training methods.  I think it's great that your aunt is willing to help with sleep training, but if it were me, I'd be laying out very specific instructions about what I expect so everyone is on the same page and your little guy doesn't get confused.

    we use a center, so no, they cannot do sleep training and i wouldn't want them to anyway.

    We have at home, and will likely need to do it again soon when the latest virus is passed...
